7 Months!

My sweet baby G turned 7 months old this past Friday. This month was a big month for him. He is learning to do so many things and we love watching him grow.

Here is what G has been up to this month:

-at his 6 month check up a couple of weeks ago he weighed 18 lbs 9 oz (65th %) and he was
26 3/4 in. long (43rd %)

-he is wearing mostly 6 month clothes but is wearing 9 month shorts

-we just moved him to size 4 diapers a couple of days ago

-he is still taking 5 oz bottles and gets 6 per day. I've tried to give him more milk per bottle and cut one out but he just does better having less more often.

-he usually gets about 4 oz of baby food a day too and about 3 oz of juice with water

-he has been eating yogurt melts for about a month now but the other day he started eating puffs.

-he likes to snack on those while we are eating dinner

-G started CRAWLING this month. He actually started about a month ago pulling himself forward a little bit. Now, he is all over the place. He is really quick and can get anywhere he wants to go. Right now he is doing an army crawl. He pulls himself forward with his left arm. I imagine he will be up on all 4's soon.

-he also cut his first tooth last weekend. He didn't get much of a break because now the next one is trying to pop through also.

-he usually takes 2-3 naps per day, usually 1-1/2 hrs in the morning and after lunch and then a 30 minute catnap in the afternoon

-he is mostly sitting up on his own. He can sit for a while as long as he doesn't lean over too far. I've been trying to practice sitting with him but because he started crawling so early, he has decided he would rather crawl around than sit still

-he went out on the beach for the first time this month also

-he loves him little blue golf club

-his nighttime sleep has been really messed up this month because of teething. I'm hoping we will get back to those 12 hr nights soon.

-he got to go swimming for the first time and he loves it!

-G moved from his baby bath tub to the big bath tub a few nights ago. He was soaking me and the floor every night so I got him a little inflatable duck bath tub that goes in the big bath tub. Now he sits up and plays and he LOVES it!

::fam beach trip::2013

This past week was spent at Oak Island with my family. This is our 3rd year doing a family beach trip and it is so much fun. (well mostly) I love being able to have vacation with everyone and the kids love playing together on the beach. Let me start this post off by saying that in NO way am I complaining and I DO feel blessed that we are able to go to the beach and be on vacation. However, I am going to tell you like it is. I want to be able to look back on this trip and see how vacation has changed for us as the kids get older. A few days before we left Grayson had his 6 month check up and Dr. Lowe told me that he was only a few days from his bottom teeth breaking through. He has been teething for a couple of months and in the couple of weeks leading up to the beach he went from sleeping  12 hours a night  to waking up 2 or 3 times. I was hopeful that the beach trip would still go ok and that Grayson would do well. Well, it didin't exactly happen that way. Grayson did really well on the ride down there, but once we were there he just wasn't that happy. He had his times were he was ok but for the most part he was just miserable. I could tell how swollen and red his gums were and I was thinking any day that they would break through. He woke up multiple times a night every night we were there and was usually awake for the day between 5am and 6am. It was exhasting. He HATED the beach. I took a pool for him to sit in and play with toys but he just wasn't having it. He wanted to be able to crawl around. He lasted for maybe an hour and then he was done. Josh had to work a few days while we were there so I was on my own. Let me tell you, getting all 3 kids ready and carrying everything to the beach will wear you out!! Then taking care of Grayson, hauling everything back home, getting everyone cleaned up, etc. It just isn't as much fun as I thought it was going to be. Grayson just wasn't his usual happy self and I was usually the only person who could make him happy. It's hard having two little girls who wanted to play on the beach all day and then a baby who just wanted to fuss. I had envisioned beautiful beach pictures with the girls in their new dresses and Grayson in a cute little outfit but every evening he was fussy and the girls were whiney because they were so tired. One day. Grayson woke up Saturday morning with two teeth poking through! I am so relieved that he finally cut those teeth and I'm hoping the others don't give him that much trouble. We came home yesterday and Grayson slept 12 hours last night and took a two hour nap this morning. Go figure. I am so thankful to my family who were so sweet to help watch my girls on the beach and try to help with Grayson. It was definintely an exhausting trip and I'm thankful to be home. But the main thing was that the girls had a blast and Grayson came home with two new teeth!!

::6 Months::

How on the world has 6 months go by?!  He is halfway to a year old already! (Insert tears)  I can't believe how quickly he is growing and how many new things he is learning. He wasn't very cooperative for his pictures this time. He was too busy rolling around and eating his hand. But here is what G has been up to this past month.

-he will get weighed at his checkup in a week or so but I'm guessing he's about 15 pounds or so
-G wears 3-6 month clothes and 6 month pj's

-he wears size 3 diapers and size 4 overnites to bed

-he is eating 5 oz bottles still and has 6 a day.
-he also eats about 4 oz of baby food a day

-G is sleeping at night from 7:15- anywhere from 6:15-7:15. I prefer the 7:15 but he didnt ask my opinion. I'm just thankful he sleeps through the night.

-he takes 3 naps a day. Two 1 1/2 hrs and a 30 minute catnap.

-he got a new carseat this month! He was starting to get too heavy for me to carry in his infant carseat so we went ahead and moved him into a convertible seat and he loves it! It sits higher and he is a le to look out the window.

-he is still taking Zantac twice per day.
-STILL teething

-starting to sit up. He can sit for a few minutes without toppling over. Once he gets some stronger back muscles he will be able to sit all the time.
-He loves to jump in his jumperoo.

-Grayson also loves going for walks in his stroller

-he has started eating little yogurt melts and he will munch on some apples in his mesh feeder.

-HATES bananas

-he smiles all the time!

-still uses a paci at bedtime and nap time but doesn't really want anything to do with it otherwise.

-still loves bath time! He has entered the "soak mommy and everything around him" phase. I'll be so glad when he's sitting up good and can take baths in the bath tub.

-this month will be a lot of fun for him because he will be going to the beach for the first time. I am very nervous about taking all 3 kids, especially because I don't know how he will do but I'm hopeful that we will have a great time.

:baby favorites:

I always like to look back and see how my favorite baby items have changed. Even since Emma was born 4 1/2 years ago there are so many new things and a lot of different things that have been improved. With having 3 kids we have been through a lot of gear and have tried new things. We've also continued to use our favorites.

   Top 9 baby items:

1. Tommee Tippee bottles. We used different bottles with the girls however, the Tommee Tippee's have been the best ones yet.
2. Dohm Sound Machine. We just got this sound machine a couple of weeks ago. I took the girls sound machine out of their room when Grayson was born and put it in his. It was a Dexbaby machine and it just wouldn't get loud enough. The Dohm machine is an adult sound machine and it so great for him. It is loud enough to drown out any noise from the girls.
3. Halo Sleep Sack. After Grayson had enough being swaddled I switched him to the sleep sack. He sleeps in this and a footed sleeper and he never gets hot. He also associates it with sleep time and I think it helps him calm down and get ready for nap or bed. Once summer hits and its hot I will probably switch him over to the Aden & Anais sleep blanket because its thing and breatheable but for now, this works great!
4. Miracle blanket. When Grayson was breaking out of the SwaddleMe swaddles I neded to find something that would keep him wrapped tight. My sister recommended this miracle blanket and it was perfect. I had never used it with the girls but I wish I would've. It was well worth the money!
5. Bob Revolution SE Stroller- If you splurge on one thing with baby gear, then this needs to be it!! Josh and I have done so much research over the 5 years of having kids and we have had our fair share of strollers. This one is the best!!! I did not like the price tag one bit but it is so comfortable for G and so easy to push. LOVE LOVE LOVE it!
6. Aden & Anais Swaddle Blankets! I wish I would've never bought any receiving blankets. These blankets are the best. They are soft, subtle, and perfect for wrapping or even covering up. I use them with G in his carseat now and they are the perfect weight.
7. Chicco Snap & Go Stroller. This has been our main stroller since he was born. It is light and perfect for us. It has a ton of storage also. Another item that I wish I would've gotten with the girls. We will be retiring it in a few short weeks as we move Grayson into a convertible carseat. Then we will just be using the BOB.
8. NAP NANNY CHILL!!!! My all time FAVORITE baby item. I knew that I really wanted one for G was born but I didn't know how much I would use it. Yes, they are recalled and no longer sold, but they were recalled because people didn't use them properly. We love ours and so does G. He slept in it his first month of life and it really minimized the spit up. Now it sits in our living room and G loves to lay back in it and play with toys or drink his juice.
9. Chicco Keyfit Carseat. Ever one of our babies have had Chicco carseat. We love them. I'm sure all carseats are about the same, but the chicco is #1 for ease of installation. I love the material it is made out of and the look of it. I would never buy a different brand.

Top 4 Favorite Baby Toys: 0-6 Months

Grayson is slowing approaching the 6 month mark and lets face it. Up until this point babies don't really play that much with toys. Grayson does have a few favorites that he loves to hold and play with though.

1. O Ball- G loves his O ball. He holds it really well because of all the little holes. He also had the O rattle and loves it too.
2. Infantino Wooden Rattle. He likes this toy alot. My only issue with it is that it is a little heavy for a baby. He has a hard time holding it up sometimes.
3. Infantino Soft Blocks-Grayson loves these!
4. Sophie. Sophie is perfect for holding and for Grayson to chew on. She also squeaks and he laughs everytime. He is using the same one that we bought for Ryleigh. They are a little expensive but I think they are worth it.

::5:: Months

Grayson turned 5 months old last Sunday. We were coming home from the beach then and it has taken me a few days to actually sit down to write all of this out. Blogger is doing something weird with my pictures. They look great on my computer screen but when I upload them they look a little blurry. But I'm just gonna go with it.

Here is what G has been up to this month:

-I don't know how much he weighs. He will go back to the doctor at 6 months. I believe it's somewhere around 16 lbs though.

-He is in 3-6 month clothes and can also wear some 6 month clothes. I just moved him up to size 3 diapers yesterday.  He wears a size 3 Huggies Overnite for bed.

-G is still taking 6 bottles a day at 5 oz each. At four months old we started him on rice cereal. Since then he has also eaten pears, apples, bananas, and sweet potatoes.

-He can drink juice with his sippy cup. He can hold it by myself and will drink every last drop of it.

-He is taking about 3 naps a day. He will take anywhere from 1 hr-1 1/2 hr in the morning, a 2 hr nap in the afternoon, and then a 30 minute catnap around dinner time.

-We get him ready for bed around 7pm with his bath and bottle and he is usually asleep by 7:30. He usually wakes up between 6 & 7.

-Still teething!! He always has his hand in his mouth.

-Takes Zantac twice a day for reflux.

-Grayson has found his feet! He loves to hold them both, especially while I'm trying to change him, and he loves to put his toes in his mouth.

-He still LOVES Mickey Mouse.

-He went on his first road trip this past weekend. We went to the beach for three nights. He did wonderful. He got a little fussy in the car around the 3 hr mark but then went back to sleep. He still slept great away from home.

-He loves to be tickled and he has the sweetest little laugh.

-Grayson got a new jumperoo a couple of weeks ago and he doesn't jump yet but he loves to play with all the little toys. He also got a new high chair that he loves to sit in also.

-He is such a happy little baby. We get comments all the time that he is such a smiley baby. Unless he is hungry or tired, he is happy.

-Josh kept him one morning while I took the girls to the dentist and said that he pulled himself forward twice.

Happy 5 months little G.

4 Month Check Up

Yesterday I took Grayson for his 4 month check up. He had an 8:30 appt and it takes us about 40 minutes to get there so I had to wake all of the kids up a little early to make it. It was a long morning for sure. But he checked out great and is healthy.

Here are his stats:

Weight: 14 lbs 14.5oz-25 %
Height: 25- 25%
Head: 41cm- 10-15%

He also got two shots yesterday and an oral vaccine. He cried for a second or two and then was find after that. We are so happy and blessed that we have a healthy little guy.

G::4 Months

This is a few days late but better late than never!  :) Little G is 4 months old!! I had forgotten what it was like to have a little baby. Well, sort of. Babies are so funny yet frustrating sometimes because as soon as you get them figured out, they change it up on you and you start all over again. But I'm having fun figuring him out and watching him learn new things.

At four months old G is:

-around 14 lbs I believe. I will update this when we got for his checkup in a week or so.

-in 3 month clothes. He can fit into some 3 month pajamas but he also has a couple of 6 months too.

-is wearing a size 2 diaper. He wears Pampers Swaddlers Sensitives during the day and I just started him on Huggies Overnites for night time. He is wearing a size 3 because that's as small as they come.

-is no longer swaddled at night time or nap time. He is now sleeping in a sleep blanket and doing really well. He is definitely a tummy sleeper now.

-rolling over. He rolled over for the first time on March 20th. This is both a good and bad thing. Since rolling over anytime we lay him down he goes straight to his tummy but then usually gets frustrated. He no longer will lay on his back to play on his play mat and doesn't usually want to sit in his swing. He wants to sit up so bad he can't stand it. He's just in that in between stage where he doesn't want to lay down but can't sit up so keeping him busy is getting a little tough.

-still on his same schedule of eating at 9,12,3,5:30,7:30 and is eating about 5 oz at a time.

-We also moved him up to the size 2 nipples for his bottles a couple of weeks ago. They are a little messy right now but he'll get the hang of it.

-giggling. He loves to be tickled too.

-still taking Zantac for reflux.

-teething I believe. He drools like crazy and is always chewing on his hand.

-loves bath time!! He has discovered that he can kick and splash water and the floor ends up soaking wet.

-will be starting oatmeal cereal in a few days.

-loves to hold his O Ball.

-still a good car rider. He will usually fall asleep but if not, he will just look around.

-likes watching cartoons or anything with bright colors.

-he is STILL congested. We are at about 2 1/2 months of him being congested and coughing. If this mess doesn't clear up soon I'm going to go nuts. He would sleep so much better if he could just breathe.

-G got a new stroller yesterday. He is now the proud owner of a new BOB!

G,
We can't wait to see what is in store for month #5. You bring so much happiness to our family and we love you with all our hearts.
