5 Months Old

Emma is 5 months old today. Can you believe it? I know I say this every month.....but she has changed sooooo much. She continues to be a very happy baby. Don't get me wrong....she has her drama queen moments...but overall, she is a piece of cake. I just love her more and more everyday. She is still sleeping great in her crib at night. She has been sleeping unswaddled for almost 2 weeks now. She likes it so much more now that she is able to move around a little bit. Even though she hasn't rolled anymore she still manages to turn herself completely upside down during the night. We can lay her in the crib one way but then in the morning she is turned completely the opposite way. She is eating her baby food like a champ. She has gone through carrots, bananas, sweet potatoes, pears, apples and cherries. She is great at opening her mouth when she sees the spoon coming. I have been feeding her twice a day and I have been able to eliminate one bottle per day that she had been getting. Even though she is only 5 months old...she has learned how to beg. If she sees us eating something she opens her mouth and her eyes get big. She has shown a great interest in her toys the past month. She will look at them and grab them. She has also learned to pick them up and drop them on the floor. It was cute at first but it gets old really quick. I am so proud of her for all the things that she has learned. She is such a big girl. She is still learning to sit...this is as much as she can do right now...she kind of looks like a frog :]Hanging out in her cribNeed I say more?Little DuckyIsn't she just the cutest baby ever? She still loves to swing.

Cheyenne's 1st Birthday

Today is Cheyennes 1st Birthday. Josh, Emma, and I went to her birthday party this afternoon. It was a lot of fun. We opened presents, ate hamburgers and hotdogs, and had cupcakes. Cheyenne got a lot of great stuff. She got quite a few books, a huge play place, a dress, and some money for her savings. She had her own little personal cupcake. At first, she just kind of got a little bit on her finger but then she quickly figured out that it was ok to smush her face in it. It was so cute. Emma did a great job through the party. She slept through the last 45 minutes of it though. But atleast she wasn't fussy. I can't believe a year has passed since Cheyenne was born. Time sure does fly. The day she was born, I found out that I was pregnant with Emma. How weird is that?? Here are a few pictures from her birthday party. Happy 1st Birthday Cheyenne!!Cheyennes little cupcakeBeforeAfterLook at that faceThese are the balls that she got from Nana, Papa, and Katie....they went with a huge playplace that they got for herCheyenne got some books from me, Josh, and EmmaSittin on Papas lapEmma and Great-Grandma Lucie

Made Just for Emma

Before Emma was born Cheryl [a girl I work with] made this tye-dye onesie just for Emma. I've been waiting for her to fit in it. It is still a little big on her but it is so cute!! Then when I came back to work in December, she gave me a dress that she made. She is so amazing at making all kinds of things. Thanks Cheryl!! The dress Cheryl made for Emma

Snow Day

This morning we all woke up to a dusting of snow. It wasn't as much as we wanted to see but it was nice to atleast get a little bit. Last time it snowed we didn't get to take Emma out so we made sure to do it this morning. Last October I got this really cute snow suit for Emma. It is was too big for her but it sure kept her warm.

Beeeeee Mine!

She has always got her hands in her mouth

No More Swaddles

Ever since Emma was born she has LOVED to be swaddled. Sometimes if she is really fussy and tired, all we would have to do is swaddle her up and she would fall asleep. Well, she is outgrowing her newborn swaddles so I decided to see how she would do without it before I bought more [considering they are $20.00 a piece....ridiculous I know] So when it was time for her to go to bed I got her to sleep and laid her down in her crib. She spread her arms out as far as they could go and slept the entire night. She did awesome without the swaddle. I really didn't think she could do it but I'm glad she did. She is such a big girl.

P.S. It's SNOWING right now!!! :]

Check-Up & Shots

Josh and I beared the 20 degree coldness this morning and took Emma to the doctor. It was her 4 month checkup even though she is a little over 4 1/2 months old. She weighed 15 lbs 7 oz....but they weighed her with a wet diaper on so she is probably about 15 lbs. She is in the 75th percentile for her weight. She is also 25 in. long.[70th percentile] She has grown 5 1/2 in. since she was born. While we were waiting on the doctor to come in, Emma was laying on the table playing with a toy and she was talking up a storm. Then she would roll herself onto her side but she never got all the way over. I guess because she was holding the toy. But she was really all over the place. I've only seen her roll once but she will probably start doing it more soon. Then Dr. Lowe came in and looked at her, and said that she looked great. Emma was due for her 4 month shots today so she got two. One in each leg. Once they poked her, she cried for about 10 seconds, just long enough for Josh to pick her up, and then she was fine. She always does so great with her shots. I also gave Emma bananas for the first time today and she LOVED them. She ate half of the container. So we will do bananas for 4 or 5 days and then maybe we will try sweet potatoes or something. Hope you all have a great weekend.

What is Emma up to?

Emma is growing like a weed!! Over the past month she has really put on some chunk. Mostly just her legs and cheeks. We see a little more of her personality every day. She loves to talk and she also has learned to gurgle.[not sure if I spelled that right] Her daddy is the only one who has been able to make her actually giggle. He continues to be her favorite person. She has also learned to play with different toys now. She will hold onto things and toss them around. I usually put her in her exersaucer in the mornings to play and she will usually play anywhere from 30 min. to an hour. She absolutely LOVES it. She can turn herself around in it and she will play with all of the toys. Most of the time she talks to the toys as she's playing with them. She also likes to stand up. As long as you are holding her hands, she will stand all day long. She is still eating and sleeping great too. She usually goes to bed around 7-7:30 or so and gets up around 6:00 and eats. Then she'll go back to sleep for a few more hours. She has been sleeping in her crib for a few weeks now and I think she really likes it. I love when she wakes up in the morning and I go to get her. The first time she sees me in the morning is when she smiles the biggest. We have stopped giving her baby food right now. We got through the carrots great but when we got to the peas and green beans, she would just spit them back up. So right now, I'm giving her cereal and letting her tummy get used to that first. Then I will probably start on some bananas. Hopefully if we do the green foods last, then her stomach will be able to tolerate it. She loves eating off a spoon though. She knows to open her mouth and usually she swallows most if not all of it. She is also getting apple juice twice a day......with her sippy cup. She does really great with it. Within the past few weeks, Emma has defintely figured out where her hands are. Most of the time she prefers her fingers over her paci. She tries so hard to get her fist in there too. It's really cute but the drooling mutiplies when she does it. Speaking of drool......I don't know how something so small could drool as much as she does. She always has a bib on. Everyone is making fun of me now, because if she gets a drop of anything on her clothes, I change them. I'm just OCD like that. I can't help it. We also recently got Emma a new car seat. Since our condo is on the 3rd floor, it was nearly impossible for me to carry her up the stairs in her car seat. So we got a converible car seat and now we can just leave it in the car and just carry her by herself. She likes being able to look out the window though. Since we're not using the car seat anymore, we had to start sitting her up in her stroller when we go out. But she loves that. She likes looking around at everything. It surprised me that yesterday when we went to Wal-Mart and she fell asleep in the stroller. I didn't know if she would or not. But I'm glad that she is able to fall asleep whenever we are. It makes it easier on us when we go places. She doesn't let anything get in the way of her naps. I think thats about all Emma has been up to lately. I can't believe how much how little girl has grown.

Little E's Favorite Things

This is her bath tub. She has always loved her baths but now she will kick her legs and splash water. She will smile and giggle the whole time.
She plays in this exersaucer all the time now. She has learned to turn herself and will play with all of the toys.

Emma still loves to be swaddled when she sleeps. These sleep sack/swaddles are the best. The give her plenty of room for her legs and is really comfortable for her.
This is her best friend lately. She LOVES this darn moose.

The 2 Grandbabies

These are some of the very few pictures we have of Emma and Cheyenne together. Cheyenne can poke at Emma but Emma doesn't know how to poke back yet so getting them to sit still for a picture is difficult. They are so cute sitting with Papa!

Baby Love is Here!

Ethan Caldwell Love is finally here.
He was born January 2, 2009 at 7:56 a.m.
7lbs 11 oz 20 in. long

Proud Parents: Brian and Maya

Brian and Josh used to work together for Disbrow Ent. We have known Brian for a couple of years now. We are so excited that little Ethan is here and can't wait until they move to Charlotte so we can set up some play dates. We can't wait to meet him.

Congratulations Brian and Maya!!

Carrots

Yesterday we gave Emma her first taste of carrots. She did well with the cereal for 4 or 5 days so we can now start giving her regular baby food. She LOVED the carrots. The first couple of spoonfuls, she wasn't quite sure what to make of it but once she figured it out, I couldn't feed her fast enough. After she ate one bite, she would whine until I gave her another bite. She ate all of her carrots and I acutally think that most of it ended up in her tummy. She has learned to open her mouth too when I bring the spoon towards her. She is also getting apple juice twice a day now and she takes it from a sippy cup. Ofcourse, she doesn't know how to hold it yet but she sure does try. After about 20 seconds or so she drops it. I am loving this new step in her life. Josh and I love watching her try new foods and learn to eat of a spoon. I can't believe how fast our baby girl is growing up. Mouthful of Carrots
Drinking her apple juice out of a sippy cup....she tries to hold it herself too.

Cereal!!!

We started Emma on cereal today. I think she got to the point where the milk wasn't quite satisfying her. She did great with it. I think most of it actually made it to her tummy. She will do the cereal for about 4 days and then we can start giving her the vegetables. We start carrots first....so I guess all her bibs will be stained orange. YUCK! Josh and I knew we were going to start feeding her soon so we went and got her a high chair. She is still a little too small for it but overall, she really likes it. She likes being at our level. Emma after she finished her cereal....she really liked itIn her new high chair

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Can you believe it is already 2009! I feel like 2008 just got here and flew by so fast. This year was such a busy year for Josh and I. First we purchased our first home together in February. That was such an exciting time for us. The first 3 months of the year, we spent planning our wedding and ironing out last minute details. Then on April 5th, we got married. That was one of the two best days of our lives. We spent all summer planning for the arrival of our precious baby girl. Then on August 30, Emma was here. The past 4 months have went so fast. I feel like she was just born. We have had so many amazing moments this past year. 2008 was definetly one of the best years for us. I think we are all looking forward to 2009. There are so many plans that we have and more memories to be made. We hope you all have a wonderful 2009!
