We Miss Daddy

Josh is out of town tonight for work and won't be back until late tomorrow night so we thought we would share some pictures from today! I know he already misses the girls but I also know that he is secretly excited about sitting down and relaxing tonight and having a good night sleep. I'm kinda jealous....but we're doing ok at home.

We spent the morning playing at home and doing a little laundry. Ryleigh took an hour and a half nap and once she got up, we headed to the children's museum. I didn't want Emma to nap today so that way she will be really exhausted tonight and won't fight me going to sleep since I have to put both of them down tonight. So we got to the museum around 12:15 and apparently all other kids are napping because the place was empty. Emma loved running around everywhere and they recently got some new things there and we had so much fun checking them all out.

On the way home we made a stop at Babies R Us. After getting some advice from my mom this morning I thought it was time to get Emma a potty. No, I don't think she is ready to really start potty training yet but I want her to get used to it and my plan is let her sit on it when I know she needs to go and hopefully we will make some progress. I am not going to push her at all. I plan on potty training full time this winter. My mom said that when we were little we liked the potties with the lids because we liked to close them when we got done. So that's what Emma got and sure enough, the first thing she did was lift the lid up and down about 15 times. I put it in the bathroom without her seeing it and then brought her into the bathroom to show her. She wasn't too happy with me when I made her leave it in the bathroom though. Ryleigh is now sitting up full time. She rarely topples over. She loves to see how far she can reach to get toys and the only thing she ever does with them is stick them in her mouth. I only have a few hours left until bed time and so far the day has went pretty well. I plan on having a pizza and Dora the Explorer kind of night.

We miss you daddy. Hope you have a great trip. Be safe!!

Bath Seat

We finally got a bath seat for Ryleigh. The bumbo worked ok but it wanted to float and I had to hold it down the whole time she was in there. Our bath tub is textured on the bottom so we couldn't just get a standard bath seat because the suction cups will not stick. So we got the Safety 1st bath seat. It hook on the side of the tub and has an arm that holds the seat into the tub. The seat also swivels around. So far we really like it and Ryleigh loves sitting and playing in the water. It is so much easier to bath the girls now. I can do both of them by myself at the same time and it's less of a headache than the infant bath seat.

A Picture for Daddy

Yesterday while Josh was working at the golf course, I got out Emma's crayons and let her draw a picture for daddy. In the past she hasn't really shown much interest in coloring until the past month or two. She really enjoys it now. I think she did a great job and daddy really liked his picture.

Eating Lunch

Do you remember when I told you how Ryleigh goes crazy when I feed her? The video finally uploaded for me. Everytime I watch this it cracks me up.

6 Months Old

Ryleigh is 6 months old today!
-She is wearing 6-9 month clothes and some 12 month onesies (with your cloth diapers)

-She is eating 3 meals a day most of the time. She has yogurt for breakfast and then a fruit or veggie for lunch and dinner. She is drinking juice or water for each meal and takes it from a sippy cup.

-She is starting to sit up pretty well. She can usually sit for several minutes unless she tries to reach for something too far away for turn around to far and then she kind of topples over.

-She is taking 3 naps a day. Two naps about 1 1/2 hrs. each and then a 30 min. nap in the late afternoon. She goes to bed around 8:00 and usually wakes up between 7-7:30.

-She is STILL a mommy's girl. She's getting a little bit better about other people holding her, but she still prefers me. It's really sweet, but tiring at the same time.

-She has started laughing and giggling alot. She mostly giggles at Emma and her daddy.

-She got to go swimming for the first time a couple weeks ago and she liked it.

-She has TWO teeth!!

-She loves to chew on her fist. She tries to put the whole thing in her mouth.

-She has the most beautiful blue eyes.
-She loves playing with her O Balls. We have 3 different kinds and she loves every one of them.

-She also really loves her little glow seahorse.

-She does not like to lay with anyone or be cuddled. :-[

I will have her stats when we got for her 6 month checkup in a couple of weeks. And when I get her 6 month pictures from Autumn, I'll be sure to post them.

We love you so much Ryleigh bear. Happy 1/2 birthday!!

Big Girl Tub!

Ryleigh LOVES bath time. But I HATE the flood that is always in my kitchen when she gets done. She is getting way to big for her infant tub and she kicks and splashes so much and it's becoming a pain to bath her in it. So I've been on the hunt for a bath seat that will work for her so that she and Emma can bath together safely. I have found one that I like but last night they both desperately needed a bath so I used her bumbo. I have seen people use them before in the tub so I thought I would try it out. Ryleigh loved sitting in the tub and being able to splash and play and Emma loved having her in there too. The bumbo wouldn't stick to the bottom so I kept having to hold it down and wash her at the same time. Our bath seat should be here soon so I'm looking forward to bathing them together all the time now.

Ball Popper

The other day while I was at Babies R Us, they had their little ball poppers on sale. Emma didn't have one when she was little but I always wanted to get her one, just never did. So my plan was to get Ryleigh one for Christmas this year. Well, they had them for half off, so I figured with Ryleigh sitting up some now, she would have fun with it,so I went ahead and got one. Well, Ryleigh has yet to even see it because Emma has been playing with it non-stop. She giggles so much when the little balls come flying out. She also loves to bend over it and let the air hit her face and blow her hair. It has definitely kept her busy for the last couple of days.

Hiding in the Oven

Emma figured out that she could take the little wooden piece out of the oven on her little kitchen and now she loves to get in it and shut herself in. She will peek out the window and then start laughing at herself. She was easily amused with this all day yesterday.

Calling ALL Mommies....

Any advice would be helpful!

Ryleigh has been doing wonderful at night time. She goes to bed around 8:15 and sleeps till about 3:00 and then eats and goes right back to sleep until 7:30. Well she was getting up at 7:30 up until a few days ago when she started getting up at 6:00. Ryleigh is a tummy sleeper...she has been since she was a month old or so. I start out putting her at the very bottom of her crib but she always ends up at the top with her head stuck in the corner. She moves all over the place. Here's the problem.....I think that this is what's causing her to wake up. Since she moves all over her crib, I got breathable bumpers a while back. They are great except they have no padding and she ends up hitting her head on the wood slats on the crib. I feel like if she didn't hit her head, she may not wake up during the night or at 6:00. I don't want to put regular bumpers in her crib with her moving all over the place, so what else do I do?? You would think that the crib would be big enough for her....but nope! I don't know that this is the reason but otherwise she is sleeping great.

Any tips or advice would be extremely helpful!

*Speaking of Ryleigh......she got her 2nd tooth yesterday!! Now I'm just hoping we get a break before she starts teething again.*

Water Babies

HAPPY LABOR DAY!

We are really enjoying having Josh home today and spending time together. We all went out to Cracker Barrel this morning and had breakfast. Then we are going out later to pick up a few things. Other than that, we are just enjoying hanging around the house.

Yesterday we went to my mom and dads house and had a labor day cookout. John and Connie made hamburgers and mom made hotdogs. It ws so good. Now that summer is coming to an end, I wanted to try putting Ryleigh in the pool. She started kicking her legs as soon as they hit the water. It was so funny to watch her little legs go. The water was warm because of all the HOT weather we've been having. She was only in for about 3 minutes with my mom. She enjoyed it until she realized that I didn't have her. I think if I would have been in there with her, she would have stayed a lot longer. I can't believe next year she will be running around getting in the pool by herself.
Emma has really enjoyed the pool this summer. She does great with her little floaties and she will get in the pool by herself and float around and kick her legs. I think next year we are going to work with Emma and Cheyenne on learning to swim. They are both ready and I'm sure they will do great.

Bath Dropz

I've been wanting to get these Color Bath Dropz for Emma for a while now. I know a few people who have used them and their kids loved them. So while I was at Babies R Us a couple of days ago I went ahead and got some. They come is a pack of three....red, blue, and yellow. Of course you can mix them and make other colors too. It is just a little tablet that you drop into the water and it dissolves and changes the water to that color. We tried it last night for the first time and Emma loved it. The reason I have been concerned about getting them is because I thought it might stain our bath tub, but they don't. They are safe to use and a lot of fun. The only thing we did different was, after she was done playing we drained the water and then washed her and rinsed her off. That way we were sure to get her clean. I think tonight we will try red!

Animals

Yesterday we took advantage of the beautiful weather and took the girls to see the animals at the Natural Science Center. Lately we've been having 100 degree days but this weekend has only been in the mid 80's. Still hot....but better than it has been. We didn't get to see all of the animals but we saw quite a few. We saw Tigers, Monkeys, an Anteater, a Peacock, Meerkats, and few other ones. I think Emma liked the Tiger the best.
