4 Month Check-Up

Yesterday I took Ryleigh for her 4 month check up. My mom kept Emma for me and it was so much easier especially since Ryleigh had to get shots. Emma had so much fun playing outside and swimming. Anyway, here are Ryleigh's stats:

Weight: 16 lbs 14 oz 95%
Length: 25 in. 75%
Head: 42 cm 7%5

Ryleigh is definitely a big girl. I never really thought she was a big baby until she laid on the scale yesterday. She doesn't really look big to me, but maybe that's because I see her everyday and I'm used to carrying her around. Dr. Lowe said that most reflux babies are in the 95% for weight because they spit up a lot and that causes them to over eat. She is very glad that Ryleigh is eating solids and doing well. With her reflux, the solid food will help hold down all the formula and it will help her alot. Ryleigh is also teething really bad...which I already knew...but she looked at her gums and they are VERY swollen and red. So we should have a tooth or two soon. Ryleigh also got two shots....one in each leg. She did wonderful with them and then slept most of the way home. Ryleigh is still in 3 month clothes and when I occasionally have to put a disposable diaper on her she is wearing a size 2. Last night was a BIG night for the girls. Since our condo only has 2 bedrooms I knew that I would have to put them in the same room and I was stressing it. But last night we finally let Ryleigh sleep in the room with Emma and they did wonderful. Neither of them woke the other one up. I was so nervous all night that I woke up every hour and watched them on the monitor for a few minutes. I know that they will get used to each other but I'm just glad we got the first night out of the way and it went wonderful. Hopefully, it will continue. Ryleigh continues to do well with eating. She has had pears and sweet potatoes so far and eats about 2 oz. of food a day. I'm really looking forward to her sitting up over the next couple of months. She is in the in-between stage of not having many places to put her because she doesn't want to lay down but she can't sit up so I think that frustrates her. We will also be putting her in her convertible carseat this week. Carrying this 16 lb baby up 3 flights of stairs in her infant carseat is KILLING me. So it will be so much easier to just to get her out at the car and carry her by herself.

Also, HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY TO MY LITTLE HAILEY BUG!!!

HOT Saturday

This past weekend was so HOT! It was just unbearable to stay outside to do much of anything. We debated on whether or not to get out of the house Saturday because we knew it would just be miserable but we didn't really just want to stay in the house all day either. So we decided to take the girls to the Natural Science Center. When we got there, Autumn, William, and their girls showed up about 5 minutes later. We had no idea they were going so it was just kind of funny we ended up there at the same time. I guess everyone is just trying to find somewhere to go without being outside. It was nice to have help while being there. Normally its just me and Autumn with 4 kids and sometimes gets a little crazy. This time I actually got to play with Emma some while Josh kept Ryleigh.

Nothing....

Nothing exciting to report here.

There just hasn't been a whole lot to blog about lately. We've been inside all week because it's been so hot. We went to the children's museum this morning with Autumn and her girls. Emma loves the children's museum. She has so much fun there. This summer has been absolutely unbearable at times. We have had 100 degree days and I'm so tired of sweating just from going from the car to the door. It's ridiculous. Not to mention, very hard to get the girls out. Autumn and I take the girls to the children's museum and we've been to the natural science center but there's not a whole lot to do indoors for kids their age. I'm hoping it will cool off a little soon but I doubt it.

Ryleigh has been in a mood the past week or so. She is teething and it is horrible. I never really had a problem with Emma teething. It really didn't bother her any. But Ryleigh has been crankier than usual and I haven't been able to get more than a 45 min. nap out of her until today. She is asleep and we are going on 3 hours now!! PTL!! Otherwise, she is good. She is starting to stay awake more these days. She will last about 3 hours now before needing a nap. She has been eating pears since last Saturday and LOVES them. Today will be her last day and then tomorrow, we start sweet potatoes. I'm sure she will love those too.

Little Emma is doing great too. We are in the process of getting her a new speech therapist. Her 1st one didn't work out. She has learned a couple of words but we have all come to the conclusion that she is just stubborn and does. not. want. to. talk. It's frustrating because I know she is capable and I really want her to start communicating with us. But, she'll get there one day. [sigh]

Cereal!!

Last night we decided to try some cereal with Ryleigh. I know that she is only 4 months old but she is just not getting full with her bottles anymore and we started Emma on cereal at 4 months and she did wonderful so I'm hoping Ryleigh will too. The first bite or two she was wondering what in the world we were putting in her mouth. But after that, I couldn't feed her fast enough. She loved it!! She ended up eating everything I fixed and even wanted more.

4 Months Old

Ryleigh is four months old!(as of yesterday....i'm a day late)
-She is wearing 3 month-9 month clothing....the cloth diapers make her wear a bigger size but she is really still in 3 month clothes.
-She is eating 6 oz. of formula every 3 hours or so.
-She is sleeping great at night time..only gets up once, if at all. Right now she still sleeps in our room. We are moving her into her crib sometime soon, when we get a new camera.
-She usually takes four naps a day...3 30-45 min naps and 1 2-3 hour nap.
-She no longer uses her paci!! I weaned her off her paci Monday because she just didn't really want it except to fall asleep and even then, sometimes she would push it out before falling asleep. So I decided to go ahead and get rid of it before she got any older and she's done wonderful without it.
-She loves to sit up and play in her bumbo seat.
-She loves to "talk" to you.
-She loves bath time.
-She can roll from her stomach to her back with no problem.
-She loves her playmat. She grabs onto the toys and kicks her little legs.
-She loves watching her big sister Emma and smiles at her.
-She is doing MUCH better in the car. She rarely fusses and usually falls asleep without a peep.
-She is pretty much a mama's girl. She is usually happier with me than anyone else.
-She loves to suck on her hand and she tries to put her whole hand in her mouth.
-She is a SWEET little girl and I love her so much!

What's new?

The summer is quickly passing....thank you Lord. I have no clue why everyone was complaining about the cold and snow this past winter. I LOVE winter and I can not stand these 100 degree days. It makes it 100 times harder to get outside with the kids and it's just miserable. I'm ready for some cooler weather. Josh has been really busy with work lately. He's doing a great job and selling a lot of stuff. My days are filled with taking care of one...then the other...then back to the first one. I don't hardly sit down all day...but that's ok. I'm glad that I am able to be home with the girls. Some of you may not know my job situation right now. After delivery, I was having some problems and my doctor would not release me to go back to work. Since I was out so much before Ryleigh was born, I had to go into extended FMLA, which meant my position was not protected. My director had the option of filling my position or she could wait for me to come back. Well, she didn't wait...and now I have no job to return to. It is not a very good situation for our family as our health insurance is through Moses Cone. But I know that God doesn't close one door without opening another one, so hopefully something will come up soon.

Emma:
Our little Emma is continuing to grow into such a beautiful and stubborn little girl. She has yet to speak any but is in speech therapy twice a week. I'm hoping it will help her. I know that she has so much to say but just doesn't know how. We also had her hearing tested this past week just to make sure that wasn't the problem and she did great. Her hearing is just fine. She is going to be 2 in a month and a half so I have been in party planning mode. We are doing a much smaller party this year so I'm looking forward to that. She has been doing great sleeping in her toddler bed. When it's bedtime, we get her in her PJ's and lay her down and cover her up and she usually goes right to sleep. We might have to go lay her back down a time or two sometimes but she usually does really good. She is still napping everyday from 12-1:30 or 2 and goes to bed at 8:00 and wakes up at 7:00-7:30. She loves to climb on everything. We are constantly finding her climbing on her toy box, kitchen chairs, and she has even figured out how to get on our bed. She is all over the place. She loves to play in the pool and just this past weekend learned to use swimmies. Emma is such a sweet little girl. We love her so much.

Ryleigh:
Ryleigh is definitely a stubborn little baby. She is nothing like Emma was[I know most of you are saying..."haha"] We had MANY people tell us that they hoped Ryleigh would be a horrible baby because Emma was so great. Well, I hate to tell you all....But Ryleigh is not a BAD baby. No, she is not as easy going as Emma was, but we think she is just a normal baby. She is usually happy unless you miss her nap times. She definitely requires sleep, and if she doesn't get it, she's going to scream. Now that she has been on her reflux medication, she has been so much better. She is holding her head up all the time now. She doesn't like to lay down anymore. She wants to be up looking around. She smiles all the time too and she has become a little "talker". She has really found her voice the past week or so. She is doing great at night time. She only gets up once, if at all. She has slept through the night a couple of times but that didn't last long. We will be starting cereal next week. She has gotten to where her bottles just aren't satisfying her enough. I looked back and we started Emma on cereal at four months and she did great, so we are going to try it with Ryleigh. If she doesnt tolerate it well then we'll stop and try again later. Ryleigh is such a beautiful little girl and even though she is a little more challenging than Emma was, we wouldn't change anything about her. :-)

Natural Science Center

We met Autumn and the girls at the Natural Science Center this morning. It was a lot of fun until both my girls started having meltdowns. :[ This was Emma's first time there and she seemed to really enjoy it. I hope to take her back soon so she can see everything that she didn't see today. Here are some sweet pictures of all the girls.
I love how Cheyenne is in mid-air in this picture
Hailey bug...she has the biggest grin :]

All Smiles!

I love Ryleigh's sweet little smile!

4th of July/Birthday Celebration

Yesterday we went to my mom and dads for the big 4th of July cookout and also to celebrate my dad and Autumn's birthday. My dads birthday was yesterday and Autumn's is today!!! Happy Birthday! We got Emma some little swimmies and she did so great with them. She even floated by herself a few times. Ryleigh wasn't the best yesterday so Josh and I went back and forth taking care of her. She is sort of going through a "I want mommy or I'll scream phase". Sometimes she'll let other people hold her for a few minutes but then starts fussing, but when I pick her up, she is perfectly happy. We had chicken, hotdogs, corn, ice cream pie, and some other little things. It was great to see some family that I haven't seen in a while. I think the best part of the day was watching Autumn and Katie go down the slip n slide. Hopefully Autumn will have some pictures of that. It was hil-ar-ious!We finally got home and got both girls asleep and Josh and I were really looking forward to laying down and getting some rest when all of a sudden some firecrackers go off and scare us have to death. Now, we fully expected to hear fireworks last night but these were toooo close. So Josh got up and looked out the window and saw that a man was setting them off right outside our window. I, ofcourse, was furious!! Ryleigh started tossing and turning and he if would have woke her up I would have been angry. So we waited for him to stop and when he didn't, Josh went outside and "politlely" asked him to stop. There is no reason he needs to be setting off fireworks that close to condo buildings. Anyway, luckily neither of the girls woke up. Even though it's technically a holiday, Josh has so work today. :[ But hopefully we can get out of the house once he gets home. But for now, enjoy some super cute pics of my beautiful girls.
