What Are You Doing In There?

Every week I always look up how are baby is growing and all the new things that are developing for that particular week. So I thought that I would share it all with you. So far she weighs approximately 250 grams [about 8-9 ounces] and she is about 22 cm [6 inches] long. [She is about the size of a large mango.] Since we are having a girl, she already has primitive egg cells. Permanent teeth buds are forming behind the already formed milk teeth buds. Growth becomes rapid now and she begins to store iron for the production of red blood cells. Her brain even alows her to dream. [How cool is that?] By the time she is born she will have grown 15 times the size she is now. She is also starting to produce meconium, which will become her first poop. [Too much information, I know] She is also producing vernix, which is a white sticky substance that will protect her from living in a swimming pool for the next 5 months. It will keep her from getting all wrinkled. Imagine how wrinkled you would be if you lived in a pool for 5 months. Our baby's brain is also forming pockets to specialize in smell, taste, hearing, vision and even touch. She is just starting to be able to distinguish voices. She can finally hear me when I'm talking to her and she will know that I'm her mom by the sound of my voice. She just keeps growing and growing. Each day that passes by is a day closer we get to meeting our little girl.

19 Weeks Down....21 To Go!

We are almost halfway there. Only one more week to go. This past week has been pretty good for me and baby girl. I have felt her move twice already. It's the weirdest but coolest feeling ever. I am finally starting to feel pregnant. [other than that whole "sickness" thing] Things are getting better. Right now, my schedule is usually, 2 or 3 days sick followed by 2 or 3 days of feeling good. But I can definetly tell that it's getting better each week. I'm eating a lot more than I was before. I have learned that if I just eat a little bit every coulpe of hours or so, I don't get nearly as sick as I was before. So thats helping a lot. The other issue I'm having is my back. It hurts all the time. Whether I'm sitting, standing, or even sleeping, it just hurts. I'm hoping that this doesn't continue the whole pregnancy. But I'm getting a lot of back massages because of it. [Thanks Sweetheart] Josh and I are still working on a name for her. I never thought that picking out a name would be this hard. But I'm hoping that we will agree on one soon.

More Little Flutters

She is definetly starting to make her self known. I hadn't felt her in there moving around since Sunday morning. But tonight, on my way to work, she was moving around like crazy. I think I probably felt her for about 3 or 4 minutes. Since she is still so little, there are very few times when she will hit my stomach so I can actually feel her. So as she continues to grow bigger, I will start to feel her more and more. I will be so excited when Josh can finally feel her too. But that will be a while.

Little Flutters

Today was the first day that I felt our little girl in there moving around. Ofcourse, it was only little tiny flutters but I know that it was her. I only felt it for a few seconds and I haven't felt it anymore since then but hopefully as the days go by she will start to move more and more. Also, today is Josh's 25th birthday. Happy Birthday Sweetheart. We love you.

18 Weeks

As of today I am now 18 weeks along. Only 22 left to go!! I went to the doctor on Wednesday for my monthly checkup and everything went pretty good. They checked the heartbeat using the doppler and everything sounded good. The only two problems that I'm having so far is my weight and blood pressure. When I went to the doctor at 13 weeks I had lost 24 lbs from being so sick. A few weeks ago I started to eat a little more but still continued to be sick. So when I went to the doctor wednesday, I had lost 6 more lbs. So now I am at -30 lbs since I got pregnant. The doctor is just going to keep an eye on it for now but he says I need to start maintaining my weight. The sickness has gotten a lot better from before. However, I still don't feel that good most of the time. I'm able to eat a little more even though I never really feel like eating. But then there are some days when I feel like eating anything I can get my hands on. My other problem is my blood pressure. I have always had low blood pressure. But since I got pregnant it has dropped even lower. The doctor said that as long as it doesn't go any lower than it already is then it's ok since I have been maintaining it at a constant level. So there are just a couple of things that we are having to keep an eye on but other than that, everything looks really good. Our families are so excited that we are having a little girl. My sister just had a baby girl in January so it's good that they will be so close in age. Now they will have a little friend to play with.

Our Little Blessing

Josh and I are so exicted to tell you all that we are expecting our first baby. The baby is due September 19. As of now, I am 17 weeks pregnant. Only 23 more weeks to go! I have posted an ultrasound picture taken back when I was 13 weeks. It actually is a very good ultrasound picture. You can see the head, tummy, hand, and foot. When I went for my first checkup everything looked good but they couldn't find the heartbeat using the doppler so thats why we did the ultrasound. At 13 weeks, the baby was measuring 4 inches long and the heartbeat was 155 bpm. Due to the fact that Josh travels a lot for work, he wasn't able to go with me to my appointment, so he hasn't had the opportunity to see the baby moving or anything. I have another appointment next week and I'm hoping that he will be able to go with me. We should be able to find out the sex then if we want too. I would love to find out but I think Josh is still undecided. He thinks it would be really cool to be a surprise but if yall know me, I can't stand surprises. So I'm trying to convince him. :] Some family members of mine have blogs also and I found that its a great idea to keep everyone updated with any news and also some pictures. So feel free to leave some comments. We would love to hear from you.
