Boy or Girl?

We are thrilled to announce that we have been blessed with a sweet little baby

BOY!!

Trust me, no one is as shocked as Josh and I. I think we were both thinking all along that this baby was going to be a girl. We already have two girls, my sister has two girls, and my dad has 3 girls. We just don't do boys in our family. But we do now. :) I am so excited words can't even describe. I am really looking forward to raising a little boy. It is going to be all new to us and I welcome the opportunity.

Let me tell you how we found out. My actual gender/anatomy ultrasound isn't scheduled until July 6th. My doctors nurse called me last week though and asked me to come in because the doctor was worried about how much weight I am losing and wanted to do some blood work to make sure everything was ok. She mentioned on the phone that he may want to do an ultrasound also to check for fluid levels but she wasn't sure. I went into the appointment secretly hoping for an ultrasound and a little peek of what this baby was. After the lab work they did the ultrasound and I was so happy to see this little baby. After she checked the fluid levels she asked if I wanted her to find out if we were having a boy or girl. Of course I did, but I wanted all of my family to find out together. So she printed what is was on the ultrasound picture and sealed it in an envelope. After my appointment I went to the Carter's store and picked out a blue outfit and a pink outfit. They were the exact same thing and same price. I took them both to the cashier and asked her to open the envelope and put the right outfit in a gift bag and wrap it up really good. I went outside the store so that I couldn't see what she was wrapping up. Then she put all the pictures in another envelope and put it in the bag too. I paid for it and I then headed home. When I got home Josh and I let Emma and Ryleigh open up the bag and we were ecstatic when she pulled out a BLUE outfit. Emma is excited for a baby brother. She still doesn't quite understand why the baby isn't here yet. Josh and I called all of our family and they are just as excited as we are. We have had a first name picked out for a few weeks now but we cannot agree on a middle name, but as soon as we do, I'll share that with you.

We can't wait to welcome him into our family in late November/early December!!

I tried really hard to get good ultrasound pictures but it just didn't turn out so this is the best one. Josh is planning on buying a scanner soon so after that I will upload all the ultrasound pictures so that I have them all on the blog.

A Little Randomness

- I bought a new pair of maternity shorts yesterday. Anyone who has been pregnant or is pregnant now, knows how I feel. They are so comfy and stretchy. I don't know why everyone doesn't walk around wearing maternity shorts or pants. :) I also got 3 shirts too.

-Today is supposed to be the hottest day of the year so far. It's in the lower 90's which means we have been keeping busy inside. My mom and dad are out of town through Sunday but I think we still may go swimming at their house for a little bit this weekend. It will be too hot to do anything else.

-I have started making a list of everything I/we need to get done before baby gets here. Why is it when you are expecting a baby, there is so much more to do. I notice every little speck of dirt and anything that needs to be cleaned or decluttered. I'm sure the baby doesn't care if my closet needs cleaning out, but it makes me feel better so that's all that matters. Our two big projects will be both of the bedrooms. We have to get the girls new room put together and also the nursery.

-We are considering enrolling Emma  in a dance class for this fall in the same place that I went to when I was younger. It's a lot closer to home and a great place. She loves to dance so I'm hoping it is something that she will stick with.

-This week Josh and I have really made an effort to sit down as a family and eat dinner. Most families do that anyway and we used to but that has changed lately. After we moved into this house we got in the routine of feeding the girls around 6pm and then Josh and I would eat after they went to bed around 7:30 or 8. Most of the time it was because we just weren't that hungry at 6pm and then we just got used to eating later. But we have been cooking dinner as a family every night and sitting down together. I love this so much more.

-Emma's birthday is coming up at the end of August and I'm really trying to let her pick out the theme of her party but everyday it changes. One day it's Cinderella, then ballerina, then Minnie Mouse, the Princess Party....  I'm just going to have to pick one and I'm sure she will love whatever it is.

-I really want to make a trip back to the beach but it seems like every weekend there is something goes on. Why is summertime always so busy??

Phone Pics

Here are just a few phone pictures from the last few days. I am REALLY looking forward to getting a new phone so I can get better pictures.

The girls got this Barbie Jeep recently. It was a craigslist steal. :)

Enjoying icees after dinner last night.

Ryleigh loves to wear Emma's helmet and try to climb on her big bike but her legs are just a little bit too short. She sure does look cute though.

This is more her size.

Ryleigh is still having speech therapy twice a week and she is doing wonderful. Her therapist brought a tool box for the first time today and Ryleigh loved wearing the safety goggles.

.:little fishies:.

I'm FINALLY getting around to uploading our first pool pictures of the summer. I was so excited for the pool to open this year. At that time, it was in the 90's everyday and I couldn't wait to jump in the pool. Now, this week has been really cool. Go figure, right? It's warming up though and this weekend will be hot so thats not too bad. Emma and Ryleigh love to swim. Well, let me rephrase that....Emma loves to swim. Ryleigh loves to walk around the pool, throw in toys and balls, get in only while someone holds her, and eat icees. This is Ryleigh's first year where she is really big enough to put on some swimmies and really get in the pool but she's a little hesitant. She will get in, but she wants me to hold her. She had been wearing a puddle jumper but hated it so I put just a regular pair of swimmies on her, however they don't really keep her above water that well. But we're working on it. Emma would stay in the pool all day if you would let her. I am fully aware that these pictures aren't edited very well but with the bright sun, I haven't quite learned how to fix them.
(This picture is from the beach a couple weeks ago. I just loved it so much.)
