Toes In The Sand

This weekend, Josh and I are at Oak Island. We are having so much fun so far. Josh, Uncle Sam, and I took Emma to the beach for the first time. The weather is beautiful and I really wanted her to see the ocean. I'm sure she will love it as much as we do. Turkey Day

Today, we visited both sides of my family. We are going to the beach in the morning to spend time with Josh's family. First, we went to my Uncle Bob's House for the "Joyner Thanksgiving". There wasn't as many people there as there have been in the past but we still had fun and it was so good to see everyone. Emma didn't really nap this morning like she usually does because we were so busy and she had a little meltdown at Bob's house. But once we got her to sleep, she was ok. Then, after Bob's, we went to visit my moms side of the family at my aunt Nancy's house. When we got there Emma was napping but ofcourse, a baby comes and everyone wants her, so she woke up and then got a little cranky. I feel like such a bad mama because with all that was going on today, I actually forgot to feed her. So when she had her meltdown I couldn't figure out what was wrong. But then Josh reminded me that she needed to eat....DUH!! So once she ate, she fell asleep and was great. Emma did good today considering all the running around we did and her being passed around alot. We are so excited about going to the beach tomorrow. It will be really nice to get away for a few days. Happy Thanksgiving

I can't believe Thanksgiving is already here. This year Josh and I have so much to be thankful for. First of all, the arrival of our little baby Emma. She has been the most amazing person in my life. I have learned so much about myself through her. I am so thankful that she is happy and healthy. Second, we are so thankful for our families. Josh and I have been through so much this year and both of our families were always there to help us out. The wedding, the pregnancy, and our time with Emma wouldn't have been as special as it has been without them. There are so many more things to be thankful for that I could never list all of them. Sometimes I lose sight of everything that I have and focus on everything I don't have. But as I get older, I am slowly learning, that God will give me the opportunity to have everything that he thinks I need, not every little thing that I want. This is Emma's first Thanksgiving and even though she is too young to understand it, I am looking forward to the day when she realizes the meaning of it and is able to count her blessings. I am so excited to see all of my family and spend time with them. Most of them haven't even seen Emma yet. Then we are going to the beach on Friday to spend time with his family. Hopefully this time Emma will be able to see the ocean for the first time. I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving and remember that we all have so many things to be thankful for.

Playing

Emma is about 3 months old now and she is getting very interested in things. So this week I put her in her exersaucer for the first time. She didn't understand what she was supposed to do with it but she did look around at all of the toys. She is way too small for it but she liked it for a few minutes. She also likes laying on her tummy as long as she is on something, like her boppy pillow. The other picture is of her in the bumbo seat. She is getting so good at sitting up. She likes sitting in the bumbo seat and playing with me. She also talks all the time. The video is of her in her swing talking at the little lambs that are on her mobile. Bath Time

I usually try to give Emma a bath every couple of days. Some days she doesn't really need it but she really likes it and plus it makes her smell really good. Our bath tub had a sling that she laid in up until now. She has outgrown it. So I just sat her down in the bath tub. Her little butt kept sliding down and I would have to slide her back up. After her bath, while I was drying her off she started kicking her legs and going crazy. Here are a few cute pics and video.

Our 1st Christmas Tree

Josh and I decided to put up our Christmas tree this weekend. It was such a special time for us. It is our first as being married in our own house and also it is Emma's 1st tree too. The tree was given to us by my nanny.[my mom's mom] Once we got it up it looked a little like Charlie Browns tree but now that we have the lights and ornaments on it....I think it looks beautiful. Ofcourse, Emma didn't have any interest in the tree. She is just too little. She mostly slept while Josh and I put the ornaments on and listened to Christmas music. However, I did put her in her Christmas PJ's. She was so cute. I am so glad that our tree is finally up. We can't wait to spend Emma's 1st Christmas with her. Nothin' But The Kitchen Sink

Well, since I have been at my mom and dads house for 3 days now, Emma was starting to smell a little bit. I didn't bring her bath tub with me because I expected Josh to come home today and I had planned on giving her a bath tonight. But Josh isn't coming home until tomorrow so we really needed to give Emma a bath. We ended up putting her in the kitchen sink. We put a towel down so that she wouldn't actually be in the sink. She did great. She just looked around like she does in her own bath tub. My mom took some really cute pictures that I just thought I would share with you. La-Z-Girl

Emma and I are now at my mom and dads house. We are staying here until Wednesday because Josh is out of town. He left last night to go to Raleigh to work for a few days. So we decided that we would come and spend the night. It's much more fun being around people than just sitting at home all the time. Well, anyone who knows my daddy, knows that he has "his chair". If you are sitting in it when he gets home, you might as well just go ahead and get up because he is going to make you anyway. Well Emma took over daddys la-z-boy. My mom made a little wall around her with a blanket so that she could sit up. She sat for a little while and just watched t.v. It is so funny. Let's see if daddy makes her move when he gets home. :]

11 Weeks Old!

Emma is now 11 weeks old. She is turning into her own little person now. She has so much personality that has developed just this past week. She is looking around all the time. She smiles and giggles too. We have been taking time everyday to practice sitting up and holding her head up. I even tried to teach her how to roll over but she kind of looked at me like I was crazy so we are going to hold off on that. She is so alert. I can definitely tell that there is a lot going on in that cute little noggin of hers. She is so much fun now. [not that she wasn't before] But now we can actually kind of play together and carry on a conversation. I talk to her and she babbles back at me. We have discovered that she likes t.v. too. She can sit on someones lap and watch t.v. for the longest time. It is so funny. Here a few pictures of her. They aren't that great but I took them last minute and she wasn't too cooperative. I'll get some good ones this week.

Bumbo

Lately Emma loves to sit up. She likes to look around at everything and usually doesn't want to lay down unless she is tired. We were going to get her a Bumbo seat soon so that she can practice sitting up but my sister, Autumn let us borrow hers. [anything we don't have to buy, really helps ] Especially since all this baby stuff, they never use for too long. We got it yesterday and I sat Emma in it for a few minutes tonight just to see how she would do. She sat for a few minutes but then started to fall over. She can sit and hold her head up and everything but when she moves her head to look around she falls over. She will be able to sit in it good pretty soon. We will just keep practicing. Thanks Autumn for letting us borrow the bumbo. I know she'll love it.

Iron Play Stew

Yesterday, we took Emma to Iron Play because they were having a big stew. There was a tournament in the morning and then stew afterwards. Iron Play is the golf course that Josh helps out all the time. He usually goes on the weekends but here lately, he has been going more. He loves working on the golf course. He does a great job and has received numerous comments on how great it looks. We had Emma outside around the stew pot. When we got there she was a little fussy, but once Josh fed her, she sat in her stroller and went to sleep. She did so great. I love that we are able to go out and do just about anything we want to and know that she will be good for us. Josh stirring the stewThe beautiful golf course.Josh feeding Emma

My Little Lamb

As Emma gets bigger, I am slowly running out of places to put her. She has an infant pillow that she has been laying on since she was born but she has almost gotten to long for it. My best friend Brittany got us a travel swing. It folds up really nicely but the problem is that it doesn't have enough support for her to sit in and she doesn't feel comfortable in it. Plus, it only goes front to back. She absolutely loves her carseat so I figured that she would like a big swing too since they kind of sit her the same way. So we got Emma a new swing. Its called My Little Lamb. It is so cute. It swings side to side and it will also spin around to swing front to back. She LOVES it. I am so excited. It has a mobile that has little lambs and stars that spins and plays music. She stares at it all the time and she will even ooohh and ahhh at it. It's so cute. She isn't really holding her head up too much by herself now so this is a good place for her to be able to sit up and look around. It is also really comfortable for her so she will sleep in it. But I don't put her in it just so she will go to sleep. I don't want to get her used to that.

Another Shot!

Today I had to take Emma back to the doctor to get another shot. They didn't have any last week when she got the rest of them. She was asleep when we got there so I tried to wake her up by changing her diaper.[normally, she hates getting changed] Well, I got her out of her carseat and changed her and she didn't even wake up. [is this my baby?] When the nurse came in, she gave Emma her shot and she didn't even open an eye. Her paci moved a little bit so I knew she was awake but she didn't even make a sound.[definietly not my baby!] But I picked her up and she opened her eyes so I was able to take her paci out and give her tylenol. I am so proud of her. She has been pretty sleep since getting her shot. But it's ok because it kind of gives me a break and some time to get some things done. Emma getting her shots wasn't as bad as I had anticipated. I'm so glad this is over with though.....atleast until shes 4 months old.

Emmas 1st Halloween

This year we went to my mom and dads house like we do every year. We had a fire out in the driveway and roasted hotdogs. We also made smores.....yummy. Autumn, William, & Cheyenne, John & Connie, and Brandon,Carla, and Noah came. It was fun. We didn't dress Emma up this year. She is just too little. But my best friend Brittany got her a Halloween outfit. She didn't stay in it long because it was so cold last night that we had to bundle Emma up really good so she wouldn't get cold. But she slept the entire time outside. She did great. Roasting MarshmellowsDaddy getting the fire going.

Carving the Pumpkin

On thursday night, Josh and I went to my parents house to carve our pumpkin. I sat Emma up on the table so that she could see what was going on......but stayed awake for a few minutes but then fell asleep. It seems like every night around 6:00 or so, she is ready to just sleep. But we still had fun.
