Bath Time

Emma LOVES to take a bath.....she always has. She would probably stay in there all day if you'd let her. Her favorite thing to do in the bath tub is play with the little foam ABC letters. She likes to stick them all over the tub and also likes to knock them off the side.
Ryleigh has started to love the bath tub. She likes to lay in there and look around. As long as she doesn't get cold, she is as happy as can be.

Tummy Sleeper

For the past week or so, Ryleigh has really been sleeping horrible. She has horrible gas problems and I think that keeps her from getting into a deep sleep. By the time she would eat and get the gas out and then got back to sleep, it was almost time to eat again. So today my mom suggested to put her on her tummy to sleep. I know that back in the day parents were told to put babies on their tummies to sleep but now a days, thats not the case.....it's always "tummy to play, back to sleep". So as a parent, I'm torn between what I should do. But today while Emma was napping I fed Ryleigh and she was falling asleep as she got done with her bottle. So I put her on her tummy right beside me and let her nap. She slept for 3 hours and 5 minutes!!! That's the best nap she has taken in a long time. I think the pressure on her tummy helped the gas tremendously. So now Josh and I just don't know what to do about night time. I know that she would probably be ok, but it just scares me. But anyway, for now, here are some cute pics.

Little Rocker

Me and my sister Autumn are always exchanging baby items. That is one great thing about both of us having kids so close in age and also, they are all girls, so we can borrow tons of things from each other. Autumn was getting rid of this infant to toddler rocker and I got it from her yesterday. I thought it would be perfect for Ryleigh now and also something that she can use as she grows. I put her in it after her nap today and she seemed to like it. I had to put a blanket under her so she wouldn't slide down but overall, I think it will be great for her. Thanks Autumn!!

Team Umizoomi

Up until now Emma has LOVED the Backyardigans. That's the only show she would ever really watch. And as you can imagine, Josh and I were ready to throw Pablo out the window. She watched some of Jack's Big Music Show for a few weeks but never really got into much. Well, now she has a new favorite. She hardly ever watches the Backyardigans anymore....now she watches Team Umizoomi. Have you guys ever watched this show? It's so cute. I like it to much better than the Backyardigans because is actually incorporates shapes and numbers into their "missions". Emma actually only watches a couple of shows first thing in the morning and then maybe one or two after her nap. She used to watch t.v. all the time. I never really realized how much she was watching until she started whining every time her show would go off and we would turn the channel. So now she watches a little bit but then that's it.

Emma's Check-Up

This morning I took Emma to the pediatrician for her 18 month check-up....but she will be 20 months in a few days. She did great. They weighed and measured her first and then the doctor came in to see her. There were a few issues that I needed to discuss with the her too. First, many of you know already but Emma hasn't started speaking yet. She says mama and dada occasionally, but that's it. She makes a bunch of different sounds though. So after the doctor spent some time with Emma, she suggested we have her seen by a speech therapist. She thinks that Emma just has a speech delay and that everything is ok. Normally they don't start this process until 2 years but I want to go ahead and get a head start just in case there is a problem. The program is through the state and they will come out to our house to evaluate her and then we'll go from there. Dr. Lowe thinks that this will be easily fixed. Next, I had her look at Emma's bottom teeth. She thinks that there might be an issue with the enamel of her front two teeth and suggested we get them looked at by a pediatric dentist. Hopefully they are fine and it's something she will grow out of...but we'll just have to wait and see. After the doctor left, the nurse came back in and Emma had to get 2 shots. I was really dreading it but she did wonderful. She started fussing when I had to hold her down and then cried while she was getting stuck but once I picked her up and hugged on her, she was fine. I was really surprised with how well she did. I'm so proud of her.

Here are Emma's 20 month stats:

27 lbs 15 oz-90% [chunky butt]
32 1/2 in. tall-50%{short stuff]

She is STILL wearing size 3 diapers but we will be moving to size 4's very soon. She is also wearing 18-24 month clothes and size 5 shoe.

Here are a few pics of Ryleigh having some tummy time. She isn't too excited about it but she tolerates it for a few minutes.

Celebrating 27 years....

of Josh!!

Yesterday we celebrated Josh's birthday. I can't believe this is the 7th birthday that I've gotten to celebrate with him. Man...he's getting old. :] I decorated the living room with a big birthday banner and some balloons for when he got off work. My mom and dad kept both of the girls while Josh and I went out to dinner. Josh and I don't leave the girls very often. We rarely get a babysitter so that we can go out alone. The girls always do great so we just take them with us but I wanted to go to dinner alone for Josh's birthday. It was the first time I have left Ryleigh with anyone other than Josh, and that was only for a few minutes. But I knew she was in great hands and I knew I would have to do it eventually. I guess it's just a mom thing. When we got home we had a little ice cream pie before going to bed.

I hope you had a wonderful birthday sweetheart. I love you with all my heart.

Jeepin'

Last weekend my mom found this power wheels Jeep at a yard sale for $3!! All she had to do was get a battery for it. Yesterday was the first time the girls got to ride in it. Emma didn't quite understand how to make it go but she is slowly learning. She mostly just likes to climb in and out of it.

mom trying to show Emma how to make it go.
Once Cheyenne got there she hopped right in and drove Emma around. They had so much fun. It reminded me of me and Autumn riding around when we were little. I'm sure this is going to be one of their favorite things to do at Nana & Papa's.
talking on her cell phone.....she must get that from daddy :]

Birthday Dinner

This past Saturday my mom and dad took us out to dinner at Longhorn for Josh's birthday.[his birthday is tomorrow] Katie even met us there too. I got some pictures outside but it was too dark inside. Dinner was so good and we definitely ate way too much.

One Month Old

I can't believe it's already been a month since this little sweetheart came into our lives. It has flew by so fast. She is growing so fast. Right now Ryleigh is eating 3 ounces about every 3 hours or so. The last week she has gone through a growth spurt and she wants to eat every 1 1/2-2 hours but I'm hoping she'll be done with that soon. She is still working on a sleeping schedule. Right now she just sleeps when she wants. She is doing ok at night time. She is definitley not like Emma was at her age. We could always lay Emma anywhere and she would go to sleep immediately, but Ryleigh takes a little more work to go to sleep. She likes to be cuddled until she is almost asleep. For the most part, once she eats, she will go back to sleep in about 15 minutes or so, so I can't really complain. She is using a paci right now and she loves it. She is starting to stay awake more and more everyday and she is starting to take notice of things around her. She loves to watch the mobile on her swing or the little bumble bee on her infant seat. She still has a little bit of a cold. It's mostly just at night time or when she lays flat, she is really congested so she is still sleeping in her swing and that seems to be helping alot. She is wearing newborn diapers and is still in newborn clothes, however she will be outgrowing those soon I think.

On Wednesday I took Ryleigh for her one month check-up. She did wonderful. The doctor checked her out and said she looked great. She now weighs 8 lbs 13 oz- 50% and is 20 3/4 in. long, 25%.
She also got one shot. She cried for a minute or so but once I picked her up, she was ok. Ofcourse, my girls always have Hello Kitty bandaids.
and this is what she did for the rest of the day.
