Catching a few ZZZ's

What happens when a certain little 19 month old little girl wakes up an hour and half before she is supposed to??She passes out on the floor at 11:00 while watching the Backyardigans.

Emma got up at 6:00 this morning when she usually gets up around 7:30-7:45. I was letting Emma watch a backyardigan episode before lunch and I was on the computer for a few minutes. When I checked on her ten minutes later...I found her like this. Anyone who knows Emma, knows what a BIG shock this was for me. Emma has never just fallen asleep on the floor before. She was so exhausted. So I woke her up, fed her some lunch, and then let her go back to sleep. I guess that 10 minutes gave her an energy boost because I couldn't get her to go back to sleep until an hour and a half later.

Little Update

Ryleigh has changed so much in her short 2 1/2 weeks. She is developing such a personality and when she is awake she grins and looks around at everything. She is just so sweet.I could just eat her up. I think she went through her little growth spurt the end of last week. She was eating every hour and a half and Friday night she got up 5 times to eat....yes, you read that right.....5!!! I was definitely exhausted the next morning. Most of you know, but Ryleigh is only bottle feeding. Just like with Emma, my milk never came in, so I was not able to breastfeed. The one great thing about bottle feeding is that it doesn't take long for Ryleigh to eat, and Josh can also help with feeding. I still mostly get up with her during the night though because Josh has to get up early and go to work and I want him to get some sleep. I know that staying home with both girls is work too, but I'm also able to sit down and rest more during the day than Josh does. Ryleigh is now pretty consistent with sleeping and eating. We were having some issues with gas for the first couple of weeks but we switched her formula and also have been putting mylicon in her bottles and that has made a HUGE improvement. She is eating ever 3-4 hours and only gets up twice during the night to eat....usually around 1 or 2 and then around 4 or 5. I gave her a bath for the 2nd time Sunday night and she LOVED it. She actually grinned a little bit. I think she's going to end up loving bath time. :] The only time she fusses is when we change her diaper, but she is getting better at that. She does fine until she feels that cold wipe. I try to warm them up a little bit, but she still doesn't like it too much. But she is such a sweetheart. She is so much like Emma was when she was a baby. She is pretty laid back and easy. I can't believe she is almost 3 weeks old. Time is going by so fast. It makes me so sad, but I also can't wait to see her grow up. Last night I was sitting on the floor to play with the girls. I brought the boppy pillow to lay Ryleigh on however, Emma didn't want to share. She decided she wanted to sit in it and read her book.

Ryleigh's First Bath

Josh and I were finally able to give Ryleigh her first bath last night. Ryleigh wasn't too sure about it at first. She kind of had a confused look on her face. Then once she got tired of it, she started fussing. Her great grandmother gave us a bath luve at our baby shower and I had never even heard of it before. You get it wet with warm water and lay it on top of the baby so that they don't get cold. I think this was one of the big reasons that Ryleigh didn't cry the whole time. I guess all babies fuss during their first bath though. I just hope she learns to love getting a bath just as much as Emma does.

Ryleigh's Newborn Pics

Last Saturday Autumn came over to do a little photoshoot for Ryleigh's newborn pictures. Here are a few of my favorites. Thanks Autumn for taking some great pics. We love them!
and ofcourse, a sweet picture of my little Emma

23 Years Young

On Tuesday, I celebrated my 23rd birthday. The day was actual pretty horrible. I wasn't having a great day and our hot water heater was broke so we spent the evening at my mom and dads house taking showers. Not a great way to spend your birthday. So Josh and I pretended that Wednesday was my birthday instead. Maybe Josh and I can go out this weekend. [hint hint] Last night we went to my mom and dads and had dinner and also some ice cream cake. The weather was beautiful so we took the girls[except Ryleigh of course] outside to play. I also got some great gifts. I got some money to go shopping for new clothes, a Target gift card, and a cute picture frame. Thanks everyone for making my birthday so special.

Life with 2

Ryleigh is almost a week old now and even though we've only been home for a few days, everything is going really well. Ryleigh is such a laid back easy baby....so far. She eats anywhere from 2-4 hours and there are have been several times that we have to wake her up to eat. She loves being in her swing or sitting in her infant pillow. When Emma was born she always had to have her hands by her head. She would not stay swaddled in a blanket to save her life. Ryleigh is the exact same way. Our first night at home we swaddled her in a receiving blanket and she just didn't seem to sleep as good. Since then we have been using actual swaddles and she is sleeping great. We usually put Emma to bed around 8:30 or so and then we give Ryleigh her bottle and she usually goes to sleep. Throughout the night she wakes up every 4 hours or so and eats, but then goes right back to sleep. Emma has been getting up around 7:30 every morning and Ryleigh will usually sleep a little later. So even though we are getting up a couple times during the night to feed, we are all getting some good stretches of sleep. :]  I had planned on doing a post on "Big Sister Emma", but to be honest, she doesn't even acknowledge Ryleigh's existence. Bringing home a new baby hasn't seemed to bother her one bit. She hasn't gotten clingy or fussy at all. She really hasn't messed with Ryleigh too much either. She has walked over to her and looked for a minute, but then she goes on playing. I really thought that she would get upset when she saw me carrying or holding the baby, but she actually couldn't care less. It kind of makes me sad, but I would rather her be like that, then to get upset everytime I held Ryleigh. Emma has done really well this week with letting her daddy do everything for her. I'm usually the one who puts her to bed and does most things for her during the day and since I can't lift her, I'm not able to really do anything for her. Josh has really had to take care of all three of us this past week. He is doing such a great job making sure that we all have everything we need and keeping up with things around the house. I'm doing better getting up off the couch by myself but I still can't get out of the bed without his help. I'm still in a large amount of pain most of the time but I go to the doctor today to get my staples taken out, so I'm hoping that will help with the pain. We are still settling into a routine but so far life with 2 is great. I'm hoping that this weekend I will feel like getting out of the house. The weather is supposed to be great and I'm looking forward to some sunshine!

Hide and Seek

This is one of Emma's favorite places to hide. She loves to go under her high chair and sit. Today I was trying to take a few pictures of her and this is where she went!
