28 Week Check Up

Today I went to the doctor for my 28 week check up. I had to do the much dreaded glucose test. They give you this sugar drink that you have to drink and then draw some blood to test if your body is breaking down the sugar the right way. The orange drink was so nasty. It tasted like cough syrup with a lot of sugar. Everything went very good though. They said that if everything was ok with my lab work they wouldn't call me so...no news is good news. They also stuck my finger to check my iron levels. The doctor said that I am slightly anemic but not so much that we need to do anything about it yet. He is going to keep an eye on it for now. I had to pee in a cup as usual and they also weighed me. I have gained another 3 pounds. It seems like to much more. He also checked her heartbeat with the doppler and she kept moving so much that he spent a few minutes chasing her around my tummy. But it sounded very good. I asked him about the problem I have been having with my bladder hurting. He said that it was normal sometimes for it to hurt because of all the pressure on my bladder. He said everyones body was different so maybe mine just has a harder time handling it. But he said that it should get better and to keep taking my antibiotics. So hopefully within the next few days it will go away. Now that I am at 28 weeks I will start going to the doctor every 2 weeks now. So my next appointment will be on July 14.

Beach Trip

This past weekend Josh and I went to Oak Island with our good friends Matt and Meghan. We had so much fun just spending time with them and hanging out. We went out on the beach for a little while on Saturday around lunch time but we didn't stay too long. It was really hot. It was about 98 degrees with a little wind. After going to the beach we went to Provisions for lunch. It was so good. Josh and Matt went to play a round of golf Saturday evening. The weekend definitley went by way too fast. But we are glad to be home.

28 Weeks

Just like every other week, this week went by pretty quick. Sunday Josh and I went to Flat Rock to go to church. It was homecoming Sunday so we got to enjoy some good food afterwards. Then we spent the afternoon at the pool of course. Josh and I are now at the beach. We are spending the weekend here with our good friends, Matt and Meghan. It is so nice to be here, but it definitely is really really hot. We plan on going out on the boat tomorrow, so that should be a lot of fun. As we get further along in the pregnancy, things are really changing. I have decided that I should probably take out some stock in toilet paper and I have had to get a little creative when shaving my legs. Last night I had my first taste of swollen feet. That hadn't happened to me before so it really freaked me out. But I had been riding in the truck all day and hadn't been able to put my feet up. Once I got up this morning, they were back to normal. I have a feeling that it will probably happen a lot more because I'm already over 7 months pregnant and it's really hot outside. So I guess it is to be expected. For the past few days I have had some pain around my bladder. I feel like I have to pee all the time, which is normal being pregnant, but I was actually in pain from it. So when we were driving down to the beach yesterday I decided to call the doctor. They said that it wasn't normal and that I needed to come in to do some lab work. Well, with us being in Wilmington at that point, that was a little difficult. So they called me in some antibiotics just to be on the safe side and said I should go to emergency care if it didn't get any better. Since last night it has maybe gotten a little bit better, but not much. We will probably wait till tomorrow morning to see if we need to go somewhere to get it checked out. I go back to the doctor this coming Monday for a check up and also to do the glucose test. So maybe I can hold out until then, and we can just get everything checked at once. Josh and I are really looking forward to this weekend and spending time with friends. Emma is doing just fine. She is kicking all over the place. She is now kicking so hard that I can sit and watch her. It's so funny. It's amazing that she isn't even here yet and has developed such a personality. We hope you all have a great weekend.

Emma Elizabeth

Holding her hands up to her face.
Chubby little cheeks
Her face and a shoulder.
Profile with her feet in front of her face.
Sweet little face

Today I went back to redo our 3d/4d ultrasound. Josh was out of town this morning and wasn't able to get back in time for the appointment. I wish he could of been there. It was really cool to see her in there. But he got to go last time and he will also get to watch the DVD that they made us. My mom had planned on coming to the appointment and she brought daddy with her. I'm glad that they both got to come. Emma cooperated a little bit better this time. We got some really good pictures of her face. The technologist said she had really chubby cheeks already. The pictures of her face aren't too clear because she kept wanting to look down at her chest instead of looking up. There were several times she played with her feet too. It was so cute. Most of the time she spent with her hands in front on her face. She did a much better job than last time. On Friday, we will be 28 weeks. These weeks are flying by pretty fast. She'll be here soon. :]

27 Weeks

Time has been flying by these past few weeks. Little miss Emma will be here before we know it. This past week started out not so good. Saturday morning, Josh woke up to find someone had broke into his truck and stole his satellite radio. We are just so glad that the radio was the only thing that they took. It wasn't the best way to start off the weekend but he got the glass fixed on Monday and everything is ok now. We spent the rest of the weekend hanging out at the pool. Saturday, my best friend Brittany came to Greensboro to spend Fathers Day with her dad and we met for dinner at the new JP Looney's in Oak Ridge. Josh and I hadn't been there before. It was really good though. I hadn't seen Brittany since our wedding so it was nice to catch up. The rest of the week was just spent working and spending time with each other. Josh finally got the chance to feel Emma kicking this week. Her kicks are getting stronger and stronger by the day. He thought it was so cool. He thinks we have a future soccer player in there. Now, he taps on my tummy to try and wake her up so that she can say hello to him. As far as the pregnancy goes, everything is great. I still don't sleep very well. I get up about 52 times a day to go pee and I still have heartburn when I try to lay down. All of this is to be expected though. It's just the things that all pregnant women have to go through. So right now I'm just enjoying being pregnant and looking forward to Emmas arrival. We tried to order a crib this past week and it is "temporaily unavailable" right now so we are waiting for them to get more in stock so that we can get it. I can't wait to finally get it here. This coming Wednesday we go back to re-do the 3d/4d ultrasound. I am hoping and praying that she will cooperate this time. I will let you all know how it goes. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Growing and Growing

Now that we are at 26 weeks I thought I'd let you all know whats going on in there with little Emma. Right now she is about 2 lbs and 14 inches long. She has fully formed fingernails, toenails, eyebrows, and eyelashes. They will continue to grow until shes born. She has now learned to open her eyes and can also hear everything around here. She is also able to respond to what is happening too. She is starting to put on her baby fat and her skin will become less and less translucent. Her lungs are also producing surfactant which is a substance that will help expand her lungs after she is born. She is no longer small enough to float around in there which is causing her kicking to become a whole lot stronger. She is just busy growing and growing.

Happy Fathers Day

Today was such a fun day. Josh and I got to mom and dads house around noon and didn't leave until about 10:00 or so. We spent most of the day in the pool playing volleyball. We really enjoyed spending time with the whole family. Of course we then had to cook out. We had grilled chicken and brats. It was so yummy. We both were definitely worn out when we got home. Since Emma isn't here yet, I made it a Happy Father To Be Day for Josh. His big gift was doing the 3d/4d ultrasound this past Thursday. But he also got a card and a book called "Daddy's Little Girl". I can't wait until next year when we can really celebrate. Happy Fathers Day!!

26 Weeks!

This past week has been great. Emma has been flipping around constantly. She is a very active little baby. Josh and I have been in the pool a few days this week. I absolutely love it. I think Emma does too. It puts her to sleep for a little while. With all this hot weather, the pool has definitley been a life saver. We haven't done anything further with her room yet. I'm hoping we will have a crib soon and I'll be able to get it ready for Emma. Things are going great so far. I haven't gotten sick anymore at all and I'm starting to sleep a lot better. I still get really bad heartburn when I lay down but I take a Zantac before I go to bed and it helps alot. My tummy just keeps growing and growing. The easiest things to do are not so easy anymore. Bending over takes a little more effort than it used to and also getting out of the car. My legs are so short that sometimes getting up off the couch is a little tough. But Josh is my tow truck and he pulls me right up. Josh has been so amazing throughout this whole pregnancy. He has helped me with everything that I've needed him too and he helps me get through all my "hormone tantrums". He is doing a great job taking care of me and Emma. He is going to be such an awesome daddy.

She Gets It From Her Mama

Josh and I found out today that our little Emma is just as stubborn as her mama is. For Fathers Day I set up a 3d/4d ultrasound for Josh. I thought it would be fun for him to see her since he doesn't really get to experience the whole pregnancy thing. Plus, what more could you want for Fathers Day than to see your baby. So anyway, we went to our appointment today and spent 30 minutes trying to get her to turn towards us so that we could see her. She is in the breech position with her feet stuck right in front of her face. The technician turned me every way possible and I got up a moved around a few times but she wouldn't move for nothing. Then finally, she started turning......she gave us her butt. [By the way..she's still a girl] She definitley doesn't mind showing off her "stuff". She did that a whole bunch throughout the ultrasound. [I think that kind of worries daddy a little] :] She then turned her face towards my back so that we really couldn't see her at all. After that, we never could get her to move anymore. I guess she just doesn't like her picture being taken.[she gets that from me too] I think she was just trying to sleep and didn't want to be woken up. She is used to sleeping during the day when I sleep. My appointment was at 1:00 today and since I worked last night and I had to work tonight I had to wake up in the middle of the day to go to the appointment. She is just used to my schedule and she thought we were supposed to still be sleeping. Usually I try to make my appointments on Mondays when I don't have to work but the 3d/4d ultrasound can be a little expensive and I found out if you go in the middle of the week, its a lot cheaper. We did get a couple of pictures that didn't turn out too bad. Since the technician couldn't get a good video or picture, we are going back in 2 weeks to try again. Next time, I am going to drink some juice or soda before I go to give her a little sugar boost. The few minutes we actually got to see her face she yawned for us. She is so cute. I can't wait to go back and get some good pictures so that you all can see her. Maybe she will cooperate better next time for us.

25 Week Checkup

Today, I went to the doctor for my monthly checkup. Everything went good. I have gained 4 lbs this past month...even though it feels like a lot more. So since I got pregnant...I am still at -30 lbs. I'm hoping by the time Emma is born I will still weigh less than when I got pregnant. The doctor also used the doppler to listen to her heartbeat. He said it sounded very strong. Then he measured my belly. He said that it was the perfect size for 25 weeks. I go back to the doctor in about 3 weeks to do the glucose test. After going to the doctor, I met Deanna for lunch at the Chop House. It was so good. I hadn't ever been before. Thanks for lunch Deanna.

Finally Finished

I am so happy to say that Emmas room is finally finished. Josh finished putting on the second coat of paint today and it looks so good. He really did a great job. Hopefully next weekend we might have a crib and be able to get the room put together. Can't Wait!! Tomorrow we have another doctors appointment. It's just a one month checkup. I can't wait to hear her little heartbeat.

HOT!!

It was so hot outside today. Josh and I went to my parents house to spend the day at the pool. We stayed in the water the whole time. Deanna and Nicki [family friends] came over and we all played pool volleyball. It was so much fun. Josh and I still got red even after putting on sunscreen twice. The pool felt so good. There were a few times when I felt a little sick and had to get out though. I think with all the moving that I did as well as all the movement of the water, it just made me a little nauseous. But once I got out for a few minutes I was fine. Around 4:00 we were all starving so we had a cook out. We had hot dogs, hamburgers, and grilled chicken. It was so yummy. Tomorrow we are finishing up Emmas room .I'm so excited to finally get the painting out of the way. The picture at the top is of daddy, Josh, Deanna, and Nicki.

25 Weeks!

This week has been both good and bad. Josh had to go to Indiana for work on Wednesday morning and he will be coming home tonight. Even though he travels a lot for work, I still haven't gotten used to him being gone. 3 days is a long time to be without him. We still haven't finished painting Emmas room. We have to put the 2nd coat on this weekend and then touch up the trim too. It shouldn't take us to long to do that. Hopefully next week we can start looking at getting a crib and we can get her room put together. The weather has been way too hot for me this week. I knew that being pregnant during the summer was going to be horrible but I don't think I realized that it was going to be this bad. If I'm outside for too long in the heat, I start feeling really sick. But working 3rd shift makes it easier because then I sleep during the day and I miss out on most of the heat during the day. I'm excited to be at 25 weeks though. We don't really have too much longer to go until shes here. Emma has started to kick all over the place this week. It's so nice to be able to finally feel her all the time. I'm still waiting for Josh to be able to feel her kick though. Hopefully he will soon.
