Oak Island 2012

We spent almost a week at Oak Island this year with my whole family. Josh, myself, the girls, and Katie stayed in one house and my mom, dad, Autumn & her family stayed about 2 houses away from us. It worked out great because there are so many of us. It's not so hectic when we are separated a little bit. I was really looking forward to taking the girls this year, especially Ryleigh, because she is a lot bigger and would be able to play more on the beach. Ryleigh is always very hesitant when her feet hit the sand. She usually doesn't want to walk out on it by herself but once she starts playing, she loves it. Ryleigh thought she was as big as all the rest of them. The first day or so she would come grab someone's hand and walk to the water. She loved to yell 1-2-3 Jump when a wave came. After that, everyday she got more brave by walking down there by herself and even going further into the water. She went too far a few times and tumbled over but then she got right back up when down to the water again. I definitely didn't like how independent she was around the ocean. Having my girls around that big ocean terrifies me but they know they can only go so far without someone. Having Cheyenne and Hailey there made a big difference too. They loved having someone else to play with. Every day we would get up and go out on the beach for a couple of hours. Then head back in, get cleaned up, eat lunch, take naps. After nap time we would go back our for a couple of hours before getting baths and fixing dinner. That is what most days were like. It worked out so well because they didn't spend too long out there at one time. I didn't want to burn them out on the beach. Most nights we fixed dinner at home but there were two nights we went out. One night we went to Provisions. YUMM! Then on Friday night we made a 30 minute drive to Calabash to eat at The Boundary House. Josh was the only one that had ever ate there and it was so good. I definitely plan on going back. We really did have a wonderful time but I was ready to come home too. After being on the beach all day my ankles would swell and it was painful to walk and it is also really exhausting. As I was sitting on the beach watching all the girls play I couldn't help but think next year we will be buying a little pair of swimming trunks and there will be a sweet boy out there too. I am so excited to take our first trip to the beach as a family of 5! Ok, so here are a ton of pictures. Some are mine, some are Autumn's, and some from Josh's phone! Enjoy!

Trying to get a picture of all 4 girls looking at you is rather difficult. :)

Cheyenne is absolutely fearless in the water.

Ryleigh had everyone laughing so hard because she would put her hands on her hips and bend down to jump when the wave came up.

Nana and her girls!

We went to Dairy Queen a couple of nights for desert.

Flying a kite!
