Baby Stuff

Here are two outfits that we have for Ryleigh. One of them she will wear in the hospital and the other one will be her coming home outfit. I haven't quite decided yet. The first outfit and the hat are from Baby Gap and the striped one is from Old Navy. I think the Old Navy outfit might be a little too big, so we will have to see if it fits her enough to wear in the hospital.
Baby Legs are so precious. I hope to be able to get a couple of pairs for Ryleigh. Here are my favorite prints.
I absolutely LOVE Gymboree. Ofcourse, it is expensive, so I only go there when there is a sale or I have a coupon. They have the cutest clothes and blankets.

I love their new Gold Fish collection for this summer....is this not the cutest outfit you've ever seen. It would be so cute for the beach too.
I think they definitley have the best baby blankets. They are so soft and thick. Emma has 3 of them and I love this one for Ryleigh. It's so cute and girly. This turtle dress is so pretty... and with these cute little shoes...

Please don't tease me....

We are supposed to get a lot of snow starting tonight. I think right now they are predicting somewhere around 6-10 inches. I absolutely love snow. I wish we got more of it. I know there are a lot of people complaining out there, but come on, it's January, it's supposed to be cold and snow. Technically I'm still on bed rest but if it snows, I plan on at least going outside to see it. Hopefully we will wake up tomorrow morning with tons of snow!

She has been carrying this Backyardigan DVD case around for the last 2 days. The bottom two drawers in our t.v. stand our full of DVD's. Emma likes to pull out as many as she can before she gets caught. This morning I caught her getting into them, but she was actually putting them back as she was pulling them out.

Asking for Prayers

Things haven't been so great in the Newnam household the past few days. I continue to be in constant pain that doesn't seem to be getting better. I went to the doctor yesterday for a follow up visit after going to the hospital on Monday. All of my lab work and my ultrasound looked good, except for my white cell count. Other than that, there is no visible reason why I should be in this much pain. Because my white cell count was elevated, that indicates that there could be an infection in the babies fluid. He said that if I developed a fever over the next few days, then I should go straight to the hospital. They would stick a needle through my stomach to pull out some of the fluid to be tested for infection. If the test came back positive, then I would have to be delivered. Right now I am almost at 33 weeks. We are still a little over 2 weeks away from not having to go to the NICU. Even though I have to see 33 week babies all the time, I would really rather wait to see my baby at 37 weeks. As you can imagine Josh and I are kind of scared and nervous at this point. He keeps asking me if I feel like I have a fever. Thankfully so far, I've been able to say no. Hopefully, I will continue to say that. I'm not ready for Ryleigh to be here. As much as I want to meet her and kiss her little cheek, I need her to keep growing a few more weeks. Right now I'm on moderate bed rest. I can be up but not for too long. I'm hoping that the pain I'm having will start to ease up and I will start feeling better. If you could, please keep baby Ryleigh in your prayers.

I wanted to say a quick thank you to both of our families. The past few days haven't been easy and we are thankful that everyone has been there for us. Between going to the hospital and the doctors office, they have dropped what they were doing to come and either help me or watch Emma. We couldn't ask for anything more. Thank you all so much. We love you.

Back to the Hospital

First off, let me tell you, I am getting so tired of going to the hospital. Yesterday morning while I was walking down the hallway I got a sharp stabbing pain in my left side. I had to just stop and stand there. I have never hurt so bad in my life. I just stood there and cried. I couldn't even move my legs. So I slowly sat down on the floor hoping the pain would go away. It didn't. So I made my way to the couch and called Josh. As I sat there, the pain got a tad bit better. After I got off the phone with Josh, I went to the bathroom and had some spotting. I assumed it was from the kidney infection but since I was having the pain too, I decided it was time to call the doctor. So 2 hours later, when the nurse still had not called me back, I had to call them again and they finally got me a triage nurse to talk to. She suggested that I go to Maternity Admissions and get checked out. I was able to get Emma some lunch and in her crib for her nap and Josh's mom came to take care of her while my mom had to get off work and take me to the hospital. Josh was in Fayetteville yesterday and couldn't get back in time, so he just met me at the hospital. I went into triage first while they checked Ryleigh's heartbeat, blood pressure, temperature, and then asked a buzzillion questions. After that, they put me on a stretcher[not even a bed] and hooked up the fetal monitors. Ryleigh was all over the place. She had a great heartbeat and they didn't pick up any contractions, which was great. The doctor decided to do an in-and-out cath urine specimen[not fun....I don't recommend it] and also took some blood for a CBC. After that, I went to ultrasound so that they could check everything again and also to get measurements. The ultrasound went good and they didn't really see anything that should be causing the pain. Ryleigh now weighs about 4 lbs. 13 oz. She is in the 85% for her weight at her gestational age. So it looks like she's going to be a big baby too. I was given two darvacet to help with the pain, but even that didn't really seem to help. Since they never really found anything that could be causing the pain, the doctor gave me the option of staying the night at the hospital for observation or I could go home and then see him first thing in the morning. Of course, I decided to go home. I figured I would be much more comfortable and happy at home, especially since I knew that Ryleigh was ok. He gave me a prescription for the darvacet that I can take every 4-6 hours if I need it and put me on limited bed rest. I slept pretty good but the pain hasn't gone away. I'm really hoping to find out what's going on at the doctor's office today. I'm just so grateful that it doesn't seem to be anything wrong with Ryleigh. I was so worried yesterday that we were going to have a 32 week preemie. But hopefully she will stay put another 5 weeks at least.

Star

Sunday night Emma and I were playing with her little cookie jar that is a shape sorter. I was trying to teach her some of the shapes and then I would help her put them in the right hole. Everytime I said "star", she started laughing so hard. I don't think Josh and I have ever heard her laugh so hard. Even now, when Josh and I just say the word "star" to her, she starts laughing. I'm not sure what it is about that word, but she loves it. I tried to get some good video but was unsuccessful, but we did get some cute pictures. I'll try to get some video soon.

Cheyenne Turns 2!!

Well, not officially 2 until Monday, but today Josh, Emma, and I went to her birthday party today to celebrate. I can't believe this little girl is already 2. I can remember the day she was born just like it was yesterday. We had so much fun at her party. It was "Dora the Explorer" themed....Chey's favorite. They even had a bouncy house for the kids to play in. Unfortunately, a lot of the kids that were invited were sick and couldn't come to party. But that just gave all the adults an excuse to jump in it. I couldn't stop laughing the whole time. Emma even got in it with my mom. She didn't cry, but she wasn't too excited either. She got out after a few minutes and then Autumn, my mom, and Katie had a blast in it. I will probably get in trouble for showing some of the pictures....but they are just too funny. [sorry guys] After jumping in the bouncy house, we sang Happy Birthday and ate Dora cake. We had so much fun at the party.....I think you can probably tell by the pictures.Happy Birthday Cheyenne....We love you!

My two favorite people :]
The slide kind of scared Emma a little bit....she just wanted mama after that.Katie helping mom get in....that was probably the funniest thing ever
Need I say more??
Katie was trying to help my mom get up to the slide.
Hailey in her party hat!
The Birthday Girl
I love this picture of Cheyenne....She wasn't wasting anytime using a fork..
She was super excited about the sidewalk chalk we got herEmma likes playing with new toys.

Update

Yesterday I went to the doctor for my 32 week check-up. The appointment went really well. Baby Ryleigh is doing great and she is measuring perfect. My blood pressure was still a little low, 87/71....but still normal for me. They did another urine test and it appears that I still have a kidney infection but I still have antibiotics to take until Wednesday, so the doctor said it should clear up in a few days. I'm still in a little pain from it but not too bad. I can tell it's getting better. I go back for my next appointment on Feb. 5. Right now, we only have about 5-7 weeks left. My guess is she will probably make her appearance around the 37-38 week. I guess we'll wait and see. Either way, it's not too much longer. We're getting really excited about meeting her.

Visit to MAU

This morning about 3am I had to leave work because I was bleeding, contracting, and very nauseous. I knew when I got to work I just didn't feel good but I didn't really get scared until I started to bleed. I headed downstairs to MAU and was hooked up to the fetal heart monitor.
The monitor picked up some contractions that I was having but nothing too serious. I also did a urine specimen and then was taken to ultrasound. At first they did an external ultrasound to check the baby and and also my cervix. Ryleigh looked good. Her heartbeat was 135bpm. She was moving around and happy. The ultrasound tech then tried to look at my cervix and she said that it went straight up, which is kind of unusual so she had to do an internal ultrasound. My cervix looked good and was measuring at 5.2....which is great for this stage of pregnancy. While she was doing the ultrasound, I felt a lot of pain in my lower stomach. Once I got back to MAU, the nurse said that my urine test came back and that I had a severe bladder infection. She said that was where the pain and the bleeding were coming from. So she sent me home with a prescription and to get some rest. I was supposed to call and make an appointment first thing to see my doctor. So this morning around 10:30 I went to my doctors office and they did some more test and it turns out that I have a kidney infection instead of a bladder infection. So the doctor gave me a different prescription and said to come back friday morning since I already had an appointment scheduled that day. He said to take it easy the next couple of days. He also mentioned that with these antibiotics that it will probably feel like it is getting worse before it gets better......greeeeaaaatt. Can't wait. So right now, I'm going to take some medicine and go to bed.......

This and That

Sorry, I've kind of been MIA for a week for so, but there hasn't been too much to blog about. We've mostly just been working and trying to catch up on sleep. Emma started waking up around 4:00 every single morning and we just couldn't figure out why. It usually took about an hour to finally get her back to sleep. I think maybe it's because she was napping too long. She was taking 2 1/2 hours naps and by 4:00am she was ready to go. Yesterday we actually woke her up from her nap after 2 hours and last night she slept from 8:45pm-8am. Hopefully we have figured this out and she'll go back to sleeping through the night again. Josh and I went to Carter's this past friday with some gift cards we got for Christmas. They were also having a $3.99 sale and on top of that I had a 15 % off coupon, so I got some cute things for Ryleigh and got Emma some new pants and t-shirts. She is finally outgrowing her 12 month pants and needed some 18 month ones to get through the rest of the winter. It feels so weird buying newborn stuff and then 18 month stuff. I remember when I was buying that newborn stuff for Emma. She sure has grown. I'm slowly starting to make my lists for hospital bags. I make a list for everything and with us being in the hospital for 4 days, there is a lot of stuff we will need and also that Emma will need. I am 31 weeks now, so really I only have less than 8 weeks, since we are doing a c-section at 39 weeks. I have a feeling she will come before then, so I'm guessing maybe 6-7 weeks left. It definitely isn't that far away. We have so much to do over the next month or so, but I'm really looking forward to this next step in our lives.

How did you get in there?

Little Chair

We used some money we got for Christmas and got Emma this cute little chair. She is always trying to climb in something so she can sit down so we thought she would love to have her own little chair to sit in. When we first got the chair, she didn't know how to turn around and just sit so she climbed up in it, stood up, turned around and then sat down. Now she has figured out how to just sit down. She loves sitting here to read books or when she's watching the backyardigans. Here she is snacking on some cheerios.

Laundry Basket

Ever since Emma could get those short little legs into the laundry basket, she has loved to get in it and just sit. We keep a laundry basket in our closet that we put our dirty clothes in and if we leave the door open, she will pull everything out and then get in the basket. While I was doing some laundry today, she snuck in the laundry room and pulled the basket all the way into the living room and sat down right in front of the t.v. She is such a mess. :]
