10 Months Old!

10 Months Old! Only 2 more months until the big #1. She is learning to do so much and sometimes I wish she would just quit growing. I love seeing her do all these new things but soon she won't be my baby anymore...she'll be a toddler. [oh my goodness....lets try not to think about that] This month Emma started to do a few new things. She learned how to climb the stairs, stand by herself, took 2 steps, and her new favorite word....da da. Oh my, I couldn't even tell you how many times a day I hear it. She is so in love with her daddy. Every morning when he goes to work, he gives her a hug and a kiss and then when he closes the door, she crawls to it, stands up, bangs on the door, and says da da, da da. It's really cute but sometimes I would just like to hear ma ma all day. Then, during the day, she looks out the big window in our living room and once again starts banging on it saying da da, da da. When Josh comes home in the afternoon, as soon as she hears him start to unlock the door, she is already smiling, kicking her legs, and crawling to the door. I really do think that he is her favorite person. They just have that special father-daughter bond I guess. Emma also is getting her first tooth. The tooth is about 1/4 of the way out. Emma has become quite the explorer too. The past few days, I have had to go looking for her because she crawls so fast and she likes to explore other parts of the house. Normally, she goes to the bathroom and stands up by the tub and plays with a duck. Speaking of ducks....I'm not quite sure why she has an obsession with ducks but she LOVES them. My mom even got her a little duck family to keep at her house. That's normally all she really plays with in the bath tub too. It is so amazing to watch Emma grow up. I think maybe in another month she will be walking. I guess we will just have to wait and see.

that Harris Teeter has shopping carts with cup holders!!!???!!!

Ok, I am a Food Lion girl. I guess I get it from my mama. Harris Teeter is just so expensive but I went there to get a few things since I was already there returning a DVD from RedBox. Well, who knew that they had cup holders on their shopping carts!!?? Personally, I think that it is so awesome. I mean, if I were really thirsty and needed to go grocery shopping, it would be really nice to have a cupholder. Holy Cow!!

Slumber Party with Aunt Katie

So as you know, Emma had a sleepover with Aunt Katie Tuesday night. It went pretty good I would say. Emma had a little trouble in the sleeping department but was fine all day Wednesday. Katie said she woke up at 2:15 and she couldn't get her to go back to sleep. It could have been that she didn't have a night light and it was pitch dark...[emma hates the dark] or maybe her tooth was bothering her, or maybe it was just being in a different place...who knows? Katie and Nana took Emma to the park to walk around a little bit and they took the cutest pictures. Also, when we got there to pick her up, my mom introduced us to Emma's "new friend". Well, my mom has a long mirror on the back on her bathroom door and she took Emma in there to look at herself. Well, Emma thinks that there is another little person there and she talks to it and also gives kisses. She gets so excited when she sees herself in the mirror. I'll have to get a video sometime and show you. It was so hilarious. Overall, Emma had a wonderful day and I'm so thankful I was able to get some good sleep.

I Promise....it really is a TOOTH!

Ok, so remember about a week and a half ago I posted that Emma had her first tooth?? Well....I lied. We all really thought it was a tooth though. She had a white place poking through her gum on the top but then when we were at the beach, my mom and I were looking for it but it was gone! I'm not sure what she had but it sure wasn't a tooth. So at that point....Emma still didn't have any teeth. Well, she now has one breaking through on the bottom.....and I promise....IT IS A TOOTH! She stayed at my mom and dads house Tuesday night and all day Wednesday and my mom showed it to me when we picked her up. Katie had said that she even gave her a chilly willy and there were a few blood spots on it. I can actually feel it too. Emma doesn't really let you get in there and look. But I hope it doesn't take too long for it to fully come through. I'm glad she's finally getting teeth. We thought we were going to have to get her dentures. :]

Slumber Party

So Emma is now at my mom and dads house having a sleepover with Aunt Katie. Now that Katie is out of school for the summer, she requested that her and Emma have a slumber party. Hopefully Emma is being good for Katie. I know Josh appreciates the break. Since I have to work during the week, putting Emma to bed and taking care of her at night falls back on Josh and I'm sure it is nice for him to have a night where he can just go to bed and not have to worry about her. I'll let you all know how Katie's first sleepover with Emma went. [maybe Katie will have some pictures too]

Father's Day!

This was Josh's 1st Father's Day and I think he really enjoyed it. Josh wanted to go out to breakfast so we went to Tex and Shirley's. Then we came home and Josh took a nap with Emma while I made my daddy some cookies. At lunch time we went to see Josh's dad and we ate hamburgers and visited for a little while. Then we went to my parent's house and went swimming for a little while and then had a cookout. Emma really enjoyed the pool and being outside. She stayed out there a lot longer than usual.

Day 6

Today was a great day. When we got up this morning we ate breakfast and then played inside for a little bit. Then we went to Provisions for lunch. [yummmm] It was so good. They have the best cheeseburgers ever!! I love this restaurant because it sits on the water and you can drive to it or you can take a boat. You sit outside and there are plastic tables and chairs and everything comes on a paper plate. Definitely my kind of place. So simple.....but so good. After lunch we came back to the house and Emma took a nap while Josh did some work outside. Then once we got up, we took Emma to the beach for a little bit to play and to go out in the ocean with Papa again. She loves being out in the ocean and on the beach. Once we got back in I gave Emma a bath and then we ate dinner. Emma had spaghetti for the first time ever and she LOVED it. Some of the noodles kept falling out of her mouth. After dinner, we went out in the boat again. My mom wanted to see Bald Head Island so went there and also to see where the Southport-Fort Fisher Ferry docked. Ofcourse, leave it up to Emma to fall asleep again. She really loves being on the boat. I guess it is soothing to her. After we brought the boat back to the house we went to get some ice cream and Dairy Queen. We come back home tomorrow night. I'm sad, yet ready to be back home.

Day 5

Yesterday was a long and fun day. We got home so late last night and I was so exhausted that I didn't even feel like blogging. We started off the day by playing on the beach. Of course, Emma just ate the sand, played in the pool, and played with her sand toys. We went to the ocean and let her stand where the waves would come up over her feet. Then, Papa J took Emma out in the ocean for the first time. After we came in from the beach, we let Emma get in her pool. I don't have any pictures because after about 10 minutes of being in there she fell backwards and got so scared that she wouldn't get back in. So we'll try again today. After taking a bath, Emma and daddy took a nap together. They both were absolutely exhausted. Once my mom and dad came in from the beach we planned on going to Provisions for dinner.[only the best restaurant ever!] We got there around 7:15, only to find out that it was an hour wait. :[ Emma had not eaten yet and I knew she wouldn't wait an hour so we went to the Lucky Fisherman instead. We got home from dinner around 9:00 and then my mom and dad kept Emma while Josh and I went to Wal-Mart to get a few things. It was a long day so all I wanted to do when I got home was go to sleep. Day 4

Today we played on the beach most of the day. We came in about 12:30 and Emma took a 2 hour nap then we went back out. Emma had so much fun playing on the beach. She played with all the sand toys and also played in the little pool I got for her. But mostly, she ate the sand. I knew she was going to do that, but every time she put a handful of sand in her mouth she would make a face like it was yucky....but then she kept putting it back in there. We took her to the ocean to splash her feet around and she loved it. She liked when the waves would come up where she was standing. She laughed every time. After we came back to the house we cooked some brats and then went to do a little shopping. Now we are sitting around the house relaxing, ready to do it all again tomorrow! here are some cute pics of Emma playing on the beach and some of her in the bath tub
